How about some kind of indicator of message size of a post: number of characters; kbytes; something.

Some people misuse (eom) / (e) / end of message in the subject line.  

The way the forums are threaded - poorly - I have to read in Tree mode to follow along, but that's a click-and-load for every single post. (Reading in Flat mode is much faster but it gets replies and new posts all jumbled up.) Without changing to completely new Forum software, maybe TER can just include the number of characters along with the auto-appended date.  

Then we can decide if we want to read a long / short / medium post or scroll down to the next one

I soooooo much prefer a forum like phpbb or simplemachines. I like the personalization of an avatar, the ability to click on a poster's profile and see their other posts, see how many posts they've posted, etc.
