I would like you to introduce a discussion board that pertains to privacy and security of both providers and hobbyists.
This board would host topics that would allow hobbyists and providers to share tactics and strategies to maximize safety, privacy, accountability, anonymity, and enjoyment while minimizing liability, risks, and exposure to malicious forces.
Some of the topics we would discuss:
- personal authentication protocols that keep personal information secret
- encrypted disk drives/partitions/volumes
- secure e-mail
- anonymous web browsing
- secure alternatives to PBX and cellular voice communication
- cryptography
- steganography
- digital signatures
- risks inherent in sharing certain types of information
- background checking services
- security vulnernabilities in certain practices and technologies
I am also one who is very concerned about the preservation of my privacy as I either participate in TER or services referenced within.
I am of the opinion that the discussion board recommended with the topics referenced, though not necessarily limited to these in their entirety, should be established and permitted in a TER Discussion Board.
Benefits would be mutual to site participants and to TER via increased customer engagement by potentially allowing a dissemination of knowledge which promotes an increased comfort level for all parties.
Wonderful Idea. I didn't see this before I posted my suggestion about SSL and HHTPS as an protocol option on TER. I'll edit my post here to put the link URL up once my message is approved and posted (on this board), but it should be just a few posts up from this one.
There have been several truly enlightened posts here over the months that address other non-IT security issues such as hotel visit posture and persona, parking, vehicles, anonymous purchases and prepaid cards, prepaid phones, provider/agency contact practices, and a variety of other non-IT security and privacy considerations that go into making the safest possible experience for both provider and client that might complement your suggested IT privacy and security topics nicely.
