Admin tells me it's not possible on TER to ignore another member's PMs without also blocking yourself from seeing their board posts.  It would be a nice idea if you could do one without havng to do the other.

Inicky,

I do have 2 members on Ignore to block their infantile forum posts, but I've never had either one of them PM me.

However, if either one did PM me, I would kindly (at first) ask them NOT to PM me any more. If they refuse or don't listen to you, then you have a right to file a complaint against that person in question to TER management.

If you SAVED the PMs of the requests to stop the PMs, TER will ask for proof of those PMs you sent out. Once TER verifies this, then the offending member will be advised to stop PMing you or else they can lose their TER account.

Having said all of that... it would be nice to have 3 options for Ignoring users.

1 - Ignore the user's posts - The one and only current option on TER
2 - Ignore the user's PMs
3 - Ignore BOTH user's posts and PMs.

yea, sure, you would think that's a nice idea for you, LOL.

Might be why they don't do that.

First of all your option 3 is actually what is in effect now. When you ignore a user, you will ignore their PMs and their posts. The ignore PM feature was always available. The ignore post feature was added in Feb.

Personally I have never got the idea of the ignore post feature. If you don't want to read a post, don't read it. Is that so difficult? Ignoring PMs on the orher hand can make sense.

Now as to Nick's post it seems like you are taking it that he wants to ignore someone's posts, but not ignore their PMs. I read it totally the opposite. I think he wants to ignore their PMs without ignoring their posts.

In any case, as long as they leave the 'ignore post' feature, it would be nice to have the ability to do posts only, PMs only, or both.

Ignoring a user means you can't see their posts. It doesn't mean you can't write about them or trash them. :)

I wanted to block someone's PMs but still be able to see his posts.  It's not possible, I was told by Admin, so I decided to publically raise the issue here.

and I don't play games like that.  I just got tired having the guy get into endless debates with me via PM, wanted to cut him off and only have discourse on the boards so everyone could see what an ass he is.  Actually, everybody already does. If you've been reading the boards the last few days I think you can guess who I mean.
