If Duke can get by this one, you have to start thinking about an undefeated season. The ACC is so weak that the only league loss I can see is at Chapel Hill and this assumes Carolina figures out how to use their NBA talent without turning the ball over so much.
But I have a lot of respect for Mich State. Unlike those wimpy Pac !0 teams, they are very, very physical and usually dominate the boards. Nonetheless, Duke is going to score 80 points and I don't think State has the offense to keep up.
So I'm calling this one Duke 84 Michigan State 72.
I can overlook your position on topics like Roman Polanski, Drones, handgun control, but I draw the line on calling my conference, and by default my alma mater wimpy.
How many NCAA BB championships does Duke have? How many NCAA championships (all sports) does Duke have? What's next, calling Krzyzewski the best college BB coach ever?
Just for that, I'm selling my BAC shares tomorrow morning, and with a profit I might add.
You know I'm just messing with you, but I may have to go all blue and gold on your ass one day.
bc they were more skilled and athletic than anyone else, not bc they were physical. When UCLA finally lost that first game, it was bc the Big E and his burly friends were just too physical for Lew Alcindor.
Now the only other Pac 10 team that has any real tradition of success is Arizona during the Lute Olsen era. They likewise were built on speed and skill which is why Duke always beat them - Duke could match their skills and was more physical.
But the real physical teams traditionally have been in the Big East and Big Team. I'd put the ACC third and the PAC 10 right after the Ivy league LOL.
or winning championships-He was unparalled as a coach and a person-When your Bruins whipped the Devils in the NCAA championship game in '64, I was certainly devastated-and I must admit I took more than a little delight when David Thompson and the Wolfpack took care of Walton and his bunch a few years later in the National Semi's-Wooden's teams were always a mega force and while he was the enemy during his championship years, I always had nothing but respect for him. After reading many books on Coach Wooden, I grew to love him and his tenet-'If you fail to prepare, you can prepare to fail' is probably the greatest influence on my athletic and personal life. He was more than special. Now to modern times-Coach K will have more wins than any one and while Wooden will always be the best coach ever to me, K is right up there close-I've suffered through years of Devil ineptitude in the 60's and 70's and it wasn't until he arrived that UNC had to fear Duke and the national championships started coming-Now it's nice to be on top for a while and they'll be in the hunt as long as he's there- Irving was just incredible last night-what a show and only a freshman- And while your boys ARE in a wimpy conference (smile-just yanking your chain, Buddy), I'll pull for them as long as they're not playing Duke or the ACC-Always enjoy your posts and have a good week-1rob 8-)
see for a dynasty in MEN's college basketball. If my memory is correct, it was a Digger Phelps Notre Dame team that ended the streak of consecutive regular season wins.
I don't care what the UConn women's team does, their sport is not the same. UCLA owns the record!
