or winning championships-He was unparalled as a coach and a person-When your Bruins whipped the Devils in the NCAA championship game in '64, I was certainly devastated-and I must admit I took more than a little delight when David Thompson and the Wolfpack took care of Walton and his bunch a few years later in the National Semi's-Wooden's teams were always a mega force and while he was the enemy during his championship years, I always had nothing but respect for him. After reading many books on Coach Wooden, I grew to love him and his tenet-'If you fail to prepare, you can prepare to fail' is probably the greatest influence on my athletic and personal life. He was more than special.
Now to modern times-Coach K will have more wins than any one and while Wooden will always be the best coach ever to me, K is right up there close-I've suffered through years of Devil ineptitude in the 60's and 70's and it wasn't until he arrived that UNC had to fear Duke and the national championships started coming-Now it's nice to be on top for a while and they'll be in the hunt as long as he's there-

bc they were more skilled and athletic than anyone else, not bc they were physical. When UCLA finally lost that first game, it was bc the Big E and his burly friends were just too physical for Lew Alcindor.

    Now the only other Pac 10 team that has any real tradition of success is Arizona during the Lute Olsen era. They likewise were built on speed and skill which is why Duke always beat them - Duke could match their skills and was more physical.

    But the real physical teams traditionally have been in the Big East and Big Team. I'd put the ACC third and the PAC 10 right after the Ivy league LOL.
