Big-time coaches are like politicians. Their egos can't stand not being in the spotlight.

And the spotlight is bigger in Columbus than just about anywhere on the college football scene.

ESPN is reporting that Meyer has agreed to a 7-year, $40M deal to coach the Buckeyes. Meyer and his agent are both denying that an offer has been made, but the general consensus is that it's a done deal and that an announcement will be made shortly after the OSU-Michigan game this weekend.

If he can't handle the stress at FL, what about Ohio St?!

Good point. Supposedly, the health issue is all better now. Still, I wonder why he would want to go through the wringer again at Ohio State. He has a plum job at ESPN and one would think he isn't hurting for money.

and cons of why he would want this particular job, given his reason for leaving Florida, and the fact that the NCAA may still hand out punishments because of the Tressel mess. They're sure to lose a few scholarships, at the very least. It's just that there are other jobs that don't come in a pressure cooker like OSU. For example, Neil Callaway is sure to be shown the door at UAB after Saturday. Why wouldn't Meyer want the UAB job? There's no pressure, no expectations, he can build the program from the ground up, and take a few recruits away from Alabama and Auburn. Oh wait, the UA Trustees would never let Meyer come to Birmingham.

Even though I'm a Michigan supporter, I think it would be good for the Big Ten and good for the rivalry to have him in Columbus, even though I'm not a fan of his personally.

I think he'd help the program regain what it lost with Tressel's departure, and his loud-mouthed, obnoxious, whining coaching style would be a perfect fit with the no-class Buckeyes of ohio state.  Sorry, I lost it there for a moment

But hey, I was born and grew up in that cesspool of a state, so I can say things like that about Ohio- especially now that I live 2,000 miles away.
