Be on time. Don't use profanity. Don't talk badly about your teammates. He was a real classy guy, who taught his players  they could show class, and still be winners on the court.

Can we please have a moment of silence for this amazing coach and beautiful man.... Thank you...

I am sure he is assembling a great team in the heavens.....may he rest in peace.

Although I am not a basketball fan, I respected John Wooden, and his integrity.  Rest in Peace Mr. Wooden! He always was a real gentleman.

He didn't win his first national title until his 16th year at UCLA. Can you imagine a major school today keeping a coach that long without winning a title?

Let's see:

10 championships in 12 years (check)
7 straight championships (check)
4 undefeated seasons (check)
88 game winning streak (check)
role model that so few athletes look up to today (check)

I still can't make up my mind as to which stat is most mind boggling because they all are. You couldn't make this stuff up even in the movies!

Most fun of all somebody mentioned to me that at the time. Nobody had a clue a dynasty that would last the world over was about to begin, much less that he was in the middle or end of a dynasty.

That is the fun thing about sports!

came into his life. He was offered the head coaching job at Purdue, but didn't accept out of loyalty to the man he would be replacing. He was offered the Minnesota job and would have accepted, but a snowstorm knocked down the phone lines and prevented them from calling him. By the time they got through, he said he had already given his word to UCLA, even though he and his wife actually preferred Minnesota. Compare that with the mercenary coaches of today.

Absolutely.  His traditional ways are surely missed in a sports world from which i feel almost entirely alienated.
