...have won all 7 playoffs home games she has sung this year, she's also autistic. hope she sings @ the next 2 games, we need all the mojo we can get.....

I know I don't, and I HATE the Lakers.

Wish I was with Tasha tonight. :)

in honor of them pissing Kobe off :D  I haven't drank in forever and a year lol.  Do I think they have a chance?   If they play their little hearts out for the rest of it like they did this round, yes.  If not the fake no show will take it.

GO MAGIC!!!

Now it's getting interesting. How many free throws did Kobe miss tonight.

Of course they have a chance, but I'd put my money on the Lakers.

You know it.  People, what's with all the hatred anyway?  What did they ever do to you?  You know that whatever you hate, you really are afraid of them.  That's why you hate.  So what is it that you are so afraid about the Lakers?

other successful pro teams. I absolutely despise the Red Sox, specifically Papelbon. I think he is an arrogant prick. But I will go out of the way to watch the Red Sox play the Yankees. I used to really despise the Celtics of the 60s and 80s. I hated Auerbach, their players, their announcer, that parquet floor, you name it. It's a form of hate and respect at the same time. It's the same with all successful franchises.

lol!  So the more they hate, the more they are losers!  There's really only one solution to this.  If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em!  That's what Bill Gates did, right?  And he's smart.  Ok I got a little carried away.

We all hate and dislike what we fear.  Not to be confused with stuff like "I don't like the color red".  You'll only understand if you have the ability to see it and the courage to admit it.

a great player.  I was never a big Kobe fan, but my opinion of him went up quite a bit after seeing how he refused to give up.

I grew up in the 70's not knowing them, just kind of resenting them because I lived in Illinois and Kareem left Milwaukee for LA, and it seemed like it was a snub.

I hated them in the 80's because I grew up a Celtics fan.  1986, the year with Bill Walton on the Celtics, was just the apex for me.

I actually liked them in the mid 90's when they were just a "pretty good" team, because they were a likeable blue collar group with Vlade and Van Exel and those guys.

They when Shaq came, it was like Kareem all over again.

Finally, when they absolutely stole Gasol for a song, that was the final straw.

The reason I hate them is that they are like the Yankees of basketball...they can always buy the best player to make their team elite.  I know isn't that simple, but they would be a lot more likeable if they struggled more often.

Nowadays, I also hate them because it seems that they are the media darlings of the NBA, and I get sick of hearing about how great they are.

I am not blind, and can see that they were the best team this year...I saw that from the preseason.  Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Like I said, if you can't beat 'em, buy 'em!

Remember when Shaq was getting traded to LA, Orlando fans actually thought he wasn't worth keeping?  Oh well.  And he still wants to come back to the Lakers.  I liked Van Exel too, but he had behavior issues.

It is like the Yankees...if someone is good in a minor market, eventually the Yankees will come calling.

The Lakers aren't as blatant, but real or perceived, they are the favorite of the NBA, and people who want to "play for a winner" will go there...and abandon their history.  I don't think I have ever liked that they moved from Minneaplois, to be honest.  I mean, how many lakes are there in LA?

By your logic, I would hate San Antonio because they are a threat, too, but I hate San Antonio for a different reason...they are boring!  What it feels like with the Lakers is that they are "entitled".  Again, when they were struggling but still making the playoffs, I liked them...because it was the only time they seemed to have HUMILITY and be down to earth. One of the reasons why I liked Sacramento when Vlade was there...he embodied that "blue collar" ethic.  He wasn't Kobe smooth or Shaq gifted...he just worked hard.

and it makes you feel uncomfortable. When they weren't that good, as you say down to earth, it makes you feel safe because they don't hurt you.

We are bantering semantics.  If you want to look at it the way you do, almost EVERYTHING in life comes down to the amount of fear you have about it.

I don't feel it is a threat as much as it is disgust an them being around ad nauseum.  What do I have "on the line" if they win?  I don't suffer anything when the Lakers win, so how could it be a "threat".  If I walk away from this conversation and the finals, and the Lakers win, nothing happens to me, so no threat.

I'd love to carry on this conversation with you in the bedroom sometime... ;)

If there was no fear, you wouldn't be so vocal about this topic.  If you truly didn't care, you'll ignore the whole thing.  The more you talk, the louder you scream, the more you care, the more it bothers you, and it comes from fear.

Anger, dislike, hate, discomfort, resentment - they are all stemmed from fear.  Keep peeling away the reasons of why you feel the way you do, and you'll end up with fear.  So yes a lot of things in life come down to fear.

Ok that's it for psychology 101 by Dr. Rina.  I charge a fee beyond this lol.

I am so vocal because I enjoy basketball, and you have been responding to the thread, so I have been carrying on the conversation.  I have been vocal about hating the Lakers because they are on the verge of winning the championship.  I don't sit around in October and think about how much I hate the Lakers, ya know?

You ARE bantering semantics, because as I said in previous post and you noticed, if you look at things the way you had been saying (and I agree with), everything in life comes down to the amount of fear you have about it...and you just said the exact same thing above and needed to say it.  So obviously YOU are afraid of not having your point accepted as truth, or you would not keep repeating it!

Let's both be brave, Rina, you fox, and end this banter here, and agree to take it up in the bedroom sometime in the future. :)

There's banter and there's truth.  Semantics and origin of feelings are two different things.  I keep talking because you don't appear to be getting it.  But, whatever.  You actually agree?  Who knew, you don't say.

Of course I have lots of fears.  And I'm least woman enough to admit it.

I *FEAR* the Lakers victory party has begun.  ;)

The number one non-existence essential (air, food, water, shelter, sleep) motivator in life, even more than love, is fear.  Of course I admit it...it's Psych 101.  I just think there are a million little variants within fear that deserve their own category, so when you opened this whole conversation asking what people were afraid of with the Lakers, I thought the subtleties were important, while you wanted me to admit it was fear.

What I want now is to see you on top of me holding my arms down and making me admit how much I want you.

Anyway, enjoy your party.  "I'll get you, my pretty...and your little dog, too!"  :)

I don't see Rina wasting her time getting shouted down on the P/R board. I would like to see her input more on the Erotic Highway.

I have no interest there.  It's about psychology and there's no board on that here, lol.  I've posted on Erotic Highway but I'd let LG rule there..

Ya, I'm more interested in psychology myself. LG is pretty thorough, and once she's done, I seldom have anything to add.

There is an interesting thread on the P/R now involving psychological thoughts.

dictate to you how you feel about something??  I think it's great lmao.

I know that you don't think that!

;)

Man!  I have GOT to get to Vegas some day!

I hate the smog, the traffic, the sprawl, the plastic lifestyle, etc.

I hate the teams because I lived in SF.  Only natural.  Kind of like asking why cats hate dogs.

But, what would sports be without both the teams you love and the teams you hate?  The games are simply glorified morality contests writ in lights and action.

BTW, the only thing I DON'T hate about LA is the beautiful and fun women.  ;)

It makes you unhealthy.  Yes we are afraid of what's toxic and hurt us.

to like their fans, especially that egotistical asshole Jack Nicholson.  I get sick whenever I see him.

Magic came home, shot and made a record percent in the first half and for the total game, and it was still a very close game. They definitely feel some relief, but probably some concern about how hard a win it was.

..England can keep Susan Boyle!  How 'bout that little gal that sang the Magic to victory??  WOW!!  I was in a sports bar, playing NTN, NHL game on, Red Sox/Yankees game on...but the place incredibly went totally quiet when she sang the National Anthem!

...have won all 7 playoffs home games she has sung this year, she's also autistic. hope she sings @ the next 2 games, we need all the mojo we can get.....

just do not bet on it.

Those that expected a Laker sweep were delusional. Those that expect the Magic to win the series may not be far behind.

After the first game, I knew the Magic would improve their game. They were pretty much on form in game 2....and lost. Close, but still a loss.

As Matt pointed out, it took a 62.5% shooting percentage for the Magic to win. Think that is gonna happen again?

The Lakers will win one of the next two and finish off the Magic at Staples.

Last year??  Yeah they gave it up on home court.  It seems like the Lakers start out confident and then lose their mojo.  Personally I see something similar happening this series to.  But in the mean time, all we can do is wait and see.  I loved watching Kobe cry last night though LOL.  What a wonderful site it is when the lakers lose bwahahhahahahhaahahhahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahhaha.

[from LA]

We got this =D I know Lakers are just giving hope to the Magic... Because we know we're that we're great of a team!

GO LAKERS! woo!

Watching the Lakers win with Melody and celebrating after the game for a couple of hours.

It would probably kill me but I'd die with a smile on my face.
