Verlander is in a zone, Sabathia seems to have shot his load. Don't even get me started on Leyland vs. Girardi. Tigers could very well sweep the Yankmees if they play each other.

He was already the greatest reliever of all time, but this is the icing on the cake.  Sox lost, so the Yanks magic number is 5.  Never thought the Sox would implode like this.  But the Phillies will still probably take it all.  Too much pitching.  Not even sure if the Yanks can get past Verlander.  Still, props to Mariano.  A great athlete and a class act.

The way the Sox pasted the Yankmees this year, the Yankmees obviously need someone else to do their dirty work.

I've been a Yankee fan since Rizzuto was their shortstop.  But, honestly, there's no doubt Verlander is a better pitcher than Sabathia right now.   It doesn't matter.  Neither team has the rotation the Phillies do.

That's why they play the games.  Look what's happened to Boston, which had been crowned king of the AL East at the beginning of the season.  Verlander is great, but he's only one guy.  Nobody can match the Phillies roatation, which may be the best of all time.

The 602 career saves aside...the 42 more he has thus far chalked up in post-season is almost surreal.  Yes , there were three costly blown saves along the way, but those are more than counterbalanced by the five World Championships he has been a vital part in delivering.  He belongs in the top echelon of pitchers all-time in post-season...alongside Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth, Whitey Ford, Sandy Koufax, and Bob Gibson...
