I am not a defender of Vick or any other overpaid spoiled althlete but in deference to your Pit Bull, they should be banned anyway.  They are bred to be violent fighters like thorobreds are bred to race.  As a owner of a Lab, I love Dogs but to rot in hell?  That a bit much.  Hell I know of criminals who victimized humans served less time that Vick got.  Sheez

I wouldnt expect everyone else in the world to feel the way I do about defenseless animals. I think there should sticter laws period. Whether its humans or animals. Fine. Hey maybe we should try cutting off peoples hands when they steal. But there would be less stealing. But animals, as well as children, are helpless, and there should be stricter laws for either one being harmed. By the way, not all thoroughbreds end up being worth anything as a racehorse. They just dont have it in them. Just as in pitbulls, they are not born "vicious". It takes an extended amount of time, and a lot poking and prodding, baiting, harrassment, etc, to bring out that fight in them. Banning pitbulls isn't an answer anyway. They will still be around, secretly bred and kept in garages, sheds, closets. And then some other breed with be used for fighting instead. And it will go on for years. But in the meantime I'll sleep well at night, with my dogs in bed with me, knowing that they arent going to rip my throat out in my sleep. Because they do not just "turn bad", as some say. But they're just stupid animals anyway.

Just so I understand:  Is slaughtering a defenseless cow, chicken, pig or turkey ok?  Or should the full force of the law be brought down on slaughterhouses.

Humans beings have free will, thats what seperate us from other mammals.  Animals are instinctive by nature. Name the human that is attracted to a smell before they breed. You cannot train any dog to track human smell better than a bloodhound. Police use German Shepard because they respond better to a protective dogs, that why K-9 units use them.  I do not care how nuch you train my lab, he will never be a instintive killer, like Pit Bulls are

If your lab was raised in the same environment as a fighting pitbull, from a puppy, treated the same way, and trained the same way, he would fight, sorry. My "instictive killer" pitbull will never turn on me as he was not brought up in that environment. Instincts/genetics or not. I know this firsthand, being someone who has worked with dogs for the past 15 years. Just sayin. God, is this crap still going? Dont we have anything better to argue about? Any Boston fans out there? Your pitbull won't turn on you because historically they were breed not to attack humans but other dogs.
Also, what  vick did was wrong, but saying he should rot in hell is crazy. People in india think cows are scared so should you rot in hell for eating a burger ?

I agree it's a bit much, but c'mon...humans are animals. We really are, humans are animals. To abuse an animal can be as traumatizing as abusing a person. A dog can't speak and say, "Hey, they beat the shit out me...help."

I love animals and breed German Shepherds. If I ever saw someone do the stupid shit he did I'd knock him out senseless.

Either way, Vick is a POS.
