ESPN is reporting that Jerry Sloan will step down as head coach of the Utah Jazz. Sloan has been head man for 23 years. He led the Jazz to the NBA finals twice, both times having the misfortune of playing Jordan's Bulls. The same report also said that assistant coach Phil Johnson will also resign. No word as to who the new coach will be.

He and Coach Johnson both resigned and Tyrone Corbin is taking over as coach. Jerry was always one of the good guys even though he was terribly intense as a coach. He'll be missed.

I remember when Sloan and Norm Van Lier were the starting guards for the Bulls. Both were hardcore defenders who would beat you to death before they gave up a basket. If you scored against them, you earned it.
