After that is when he should have elevated them to the next level instead of the mediocrity that ensued. They exceeded expectations this year but a coach with a 68-67 record at a 2nd rate school to an NFL coach?

It's moves like this as to why the Bucaneers have mostly been a downtrodden organization and you would never see the Giants, Patriots, Steelers, Packers do this.

ESPN is reporting that Tampa Bay is close to hiring Greg Schiano of Rutgers as their new head coach. They missed out last week when Chip Kelly of Oregon had a change of heart. With the track record of college coaches failing to make it in the pros, I wonder what makes Schiano think he'll be the exception.

And for those suggesting he has no NFL experience, from 1996 to 1998, Schiano was an assistant coach in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. For his first two seasons there, he was a defensive assistant, and then was promoted in his third and final season with the Bears to defensive backfield coach.
