The 66 year-old Smith, who played 5 years with the Baltimore Colts and 2 each with Oakland and Houston, was found dead at his Baldwin Hills, CA home yesterday.  He made 2 Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team, in spite of constantly being double-teamed. I remember a game against the Patriots when  Smith was playing over center. He literally picked up the center and threw him back into the quarterback. Smith also portrayed Moses Hightower, a mild-mannered florist-turned-cop in the Police Academy movies. Sympathies and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

love those old NFL players. One of the first football games I ever remember watching was Super Bowl V between the Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Colts. THey say it was a sloppy game, but all I remember is being a little kid and being awed by great athletic play and being bummed when the Colts won by field goal. Rest in peace, Bubba.

They were involved in the first wave of funny Lite Beer commercials. Butkus was talking about how it tasted great & was less filling and at the end Bubba commented that he liked the easy open cans while he ripped the top off of one! Good stuff.
