The former Blazers' power forward passed away yesterday due to bladder cancer. He was 58 years old. Lucas was the epitome of the NBA power forward, playing a key role as enforcer for the Blazers, especially on the 77-78 NBA championship team.
He was a tough player who posted good numbers in his career. I hated him when he was in Portland as he killed the Sonics, but loved him when he played for us at the end of his career. I learned that Bill Walton son Luke was named after him. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and I hope his passing was not to painful for him and the people who care about him. He was the leading scorer and rebounder on the Championship team.
