If you take the 12th man off of any NBA team and this individual gets into a system that is tailored made for his skill-set he would have the same kind of on court success as JL... All of these guys can play... Unfortunately a lot of them never get a shot at stardom.
I think that JL has all of the intangibles that one would look for in a star athlete... He is tough, persistent, fearless, intelligent, he wants to be great and has a since of humility... A perfect mix of all things.
I have not seen a guy inspire a race like this since Bruce Lee beat the crap out of Chuck Norris... Good for him.
But... Before we put JL in the hall of fame before he has played 10 games... Let's see how he does against Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Derek Rose, Rajon Rondo, etc... Because all of these guys and more are chomping at the bit to get a shot at JL... Good Luck kid...
In the world of the rich, spoiled and selfish professional athlete JL like Tim Tebow reminds us all how fun sports can really be... Very refreshing.
I'm cheering for him... I'm a Knicks fan... But it is still Carmelo Anthony's team... JL can definitely play the game.. But unlike some I need to see more too be totally convinced... There are really only three teams that play gritty defense during the regular season... Bulls, Celtics and Heat... We all saw what happened against the Heat...
Love him or hate him... The Knicks will not win a title without a battled tested Anthony... Come playoff time you will need a player that can get you tough baskets... Carmelo has shortcomings... But scoring is not one of them...
With all of this being said... I love JL... He has his learners permit and he is road testing... But I'm not ready to give him the keys to the bentley just yet...

the problem is Carmelo-Denver seems to be doing better without him-he is a great offensive scorer but he doesn't play defense and there won't be any championships for the Knicks as long as this is the case IMHO-Defense wins championships-an old cliche-but certainly true-The team flow seems to stop when Melo has it and I don't see a lot of chemistry between he and Stoudamire-Lin has been super but really had a tough outing vs. the Heat, an elite team- as you noted-Will be pulling for him-he's been a great story-later

The bottom line is the Knicks lack team chemistry...with Anthony in the line-up. This is something that will take a while to develop. It took the Miami Heat with 3 all stars an entire season... Yes, Carmelo Anthony is an has always been an isolation player...creating off the dribble... He is one of the best iso players in the league... And his style does not mesh with Dantoni's offensive philosophy... Not Carmelo's fault... The Knicks knew this when they gave up so much to get him.. I def believe that these guys can all play together and be successful...
Let's not forget that Carmelo Anthony played on a couple of great Olympic Teams... And played well and the teams were very successful... So the guy can adapt...
The reality is with Anthony, Amare and perhaps even J.R. Smith cracking the starting line-up... Lin will become the 4th option so perhaps he is the one who will have to adapt...
Neither Anthony or Amare can play defense... Shumpert, Chandler, Fields and Jeffries are the best defenders...theses guys can help you win some games... But who's gonna score... With another offensive minded addition J.R. Smith The Knicks clearly have pieces but can Dantoni find the right mix and make it all work... Stay Tuned...
