On Saturday, Mariano Rivera will announce his retirement after the 2013 baseball season. The all-time saves leader with 608, Rivera missed most of 2012 with a blown ACL. Injuries have been the main theme of the Yankees this spring. Cashman has a broken leg and dislocated ankle suffered while jumping out of an airplane, Mark Teixeira is out for about 2 weeks with a wrist injury, ARod is out until at least the All Star Game with hip surgery, Curtis Granderson is out until May with a broken forearm, and Derek Jeter is returning from a fractured ankle.
Over the years Rivera has destroyed many different teams I was hoping would win in the end innings . Anyone but the Yankees . I've always respected Rivera . He's a class act . It's going to be a lot easier not being a Yankees fan while counting their losses , with Rivera out of the line up . I hope he lives with good health to be a hundred . I would rather he retires now .
I do hope he closes, so to speak, his career with a fantastic season.
As for Teixeria I now hear it could be 8 to 10 weeks. He and Granderson should be back at about the same time and will only miss about the first 5 or 6 weeks of the season.
Poor Cashman, gotta give him credit for having the guts to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. And he did it for a very good cause, raising money for the "Wounded Warrior Project"
A-roid, I and I think most YANKEE fans have lost all respect for him. My opinion he is washed up. I think the YANKS would love to get rid of his contract.
