I'm still trying not to laugh at 1rob's description of you

Erudite???? What's next, witty, charming, urbane? Football season is only half over and you are already on the basketball bandwagon. Are you going through wine and cheese tasting withdrawals?

Sorry, but I haven't been around TER for awhile. Too much work and traveling. I forgot all about our Duke/Kentucky bet. So what was the bet again? Seriously, I can't remember. That's what I get for agreeing to a bet months ago. Nevertheless, we will need to exchange email addresses the day after the game, as I don't have PM ability on TER.

Oh yeah, the problem is not Nash, it's Mike Brown.

That’s what our resident pro basketball experts St. Croix and Kweezy told me last summer when I questioned the wisdom of giving up first room draft picks for a 38 year old, no defense, white point guard whose earlier greatness was predicated on his domination of the ball.

So let’s see how that Nash trade is working out.

The Lakers dominated the preseason, right?

Um- no. They went 0 and 8- they lost every single game.

Well, these guys are veterans. They are just waiting for the regular season. Watch how they destroy the Mavericks in the home opener.

Um no. They lost to Dallas who played without Dirk and Chris Kaman, the starting center. Darren Collison, the Dallas point card, guard the Lakers going by Nash as if he was even there.

Well, they certainly will crush Portland, right?

Um no, Portland routed the Lakers with a rookie point guard.

Well, even though the  Lakers are losing, Nash is racking up those assists, right?
Um no. Nash is getting 4 a game. St. Croix could do better than that – all you have to do is throw it to Kobe.

When the elite point guards come to town- Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Kyrie Irving – you guys are going to see just how bad an idea the Steve Nash trade really was.

You guys are such fans, LOL.

Steve Nash doesn't run a Princeton offense he has never run that type offense.

Mike Brown doesn't have any idea what the hell he is doing he needs to play more up tempo. We are 2 games into the season lets see if you're still talking smack in April!

the lakers lost the 2 game season. wait, what? its 82 games? oh, then yeah, just chill dude. long ass season. dwight is not healthy. nash is not healthy. kobe is not healthy. let things play out. nash is there for 3 reasons....try and follow....1. to hit open shots.....2. to take pressure off of kobe as the ball handler as the season goes on....and 3. because if you can be a great team with derek fisher or smush parker, you can be a contender with steve nash. you are probably the same perso that said michael jordan would never win when he was 24 years old right? you probably said these same things about the heat 2 years ago, and bragged all offseason after dallas upset them, right? 2 games does NOT make a season.

and say you were right, and they fall flat on their faces for a 5th place type of year ( which they wont)...it was still a good move to TRY and make a splash and try to win rather than be OKC and Miamis bitch for the next 10 years. yes, we ARE fans. obviously you arent, or you would understand these simple concepts.

In the game I saw they had Steve Nash playing off the ball a lot. WTF- he is totally useless without the ball.

Everyone is saying they need time to lean to play together. But look at the Dallas team that beat them -Brand, Curry, Collison, and Marion had never played together before this year. None of those guys would even start for the Lakers. Portland likewise has only one real blue chip player.

You have got to admit the start of the "Steve Nash" era is worse than anyone expected. You don;t want Kobe standing in the corner while Nash dribbles the ball. My prediction stands - Lakers will not make the NBA finals and probably will not make the conference finals again unless they trade for a different kind of point guard who can play defense.

i admit its ugly, but i had zero expectations for the first month of the season. i only expected ( and still do) that they will be around in the WCF and maybe even NBA finals now that okc sold out.

miami was what, 8 and 9? that has turned out ok. just wait a minute before you throw the whole season under the bus.

Back "10" coming your way dude.

in the lack of a quality back up point guard. Incredibly the Lakers started Steve Blake one of the greatest overachievers in NBAA history but a guy who wouldn't start for Duke. He got what 2 assists playing with Dwight and Kobe?

Chris Paul got more assists than the entire Laker team. And don't blame this loss on the Princeton offense. They were not playing the Princeton offense for most of the game. They were no back doors, few pick and rolls, few screens off the ball - it was mostly Kobe going on one on one or pass to Dwight Howard.

You read it here first.THE STEVE NASH TRADE STINKS.

insights come to the fore. Smile  Add to the Laker troubles re Nash, the less than mediocre coaching skills of Mike Brown, who I believe can't handle Kobe and would have trouble in the ''D'' League, the offensive liability and free throw incompetency of Dwight Howard, an aging Kobe and Pau, an 0-3 start and you have the Laker ship sinking faster in the West than the Bounty. Surely they'll improve, but now there's almost zero chemistry-Hopefully, your erudite and awesome point on analysis won't be lost on the Laker faithful-grin     Have a great weekend-1rob....out  8-)

But since the rest of your analysis is right on the mark I will accept it as "description."

Now if we can just get through the Kentucky -Duke game with a W I'll be happy. I am afraid that St. Croix suckered me into a losing bet as Kentucky looked awesome in its opener and Duke went 1 for 17 from 3 point range against that defensive power Winston Salem State.

The Maryland Kentucky game though will tell us how good Kentucky really is.

taking any 1 team over kentucky is a total sucker bet. hope you didnt bet the house on good ole dookie

Hi Marikod,
I'm a Big Blue fan, went to the 1st game and going to the Maryland game. UK may well lose to Maryland and Duke, and has a long ways to go to be a final four contender. They do have a ton of talent, but it will take a while to blend it together. It's going to be fun watching them try tho'!
BTW- The UK women have 5 McDonald's All-Americans and 13 legitimate players (as opposed to 7 or 8 on the men's team) and may have a better shot a t the final four than the men. Girl power.

Half my face will be red. The other half will be blue n white.

FEAR THE TURTLE/CAT lol

to the Beverly Hills Men’s Hair Salon by Priapus if Duke loses, unless you tell me you prefer a less liquid form of remuneration.

I think the Duke-Kentucky game has been fixed. Duke’s star guard has a mysterious leg injury and can hardly play. I told GaGambler he was suppose to kick one of the Kentucky players but as usual he got things backwards.

Bad start for them.

They are playing at home vs the Pistons tonight, so they should be able to break that losing streak.
