How does a team like USC who's 6-2 remain in the top 12 of BCS teams? The solution is skewed, and needs to be thrown out with the Bathwater...
The NCAA Division 1, needs to move to a playoff solution like the NCAA Division 2, forget about the profits, and provide the players and fans with a true definition of a National Champ.
The winds of change are blowing with this. The people in the conferences who control all of this are just taking their time milking it for all they can and figuring out a system that will allow them to maximize the profit off of it like the current system. But too many people are calling for change. The tide is coming in...it just will take a while before it overturns things.
quarterback (I think). I also remember about Michigan complaining about the BYU offensive lineman holding throughout the game and getting away with it; if you don't get caught, it ain't holding!!
most notable of which was Jim Harbaugh, who was out with a broken leg. That was Bo's worse team, 6-6. Michigan only lost that game by a touchdown, and the feeling in Ann Arbor was that BYU's National Championship was a joke! Oklahoma got jobbed - they should have been #1.
Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma and USC. By tradition and their national following they get media attention and the bucks. Thus voting and computers reflect that fact.
The Boise State Broncos the men they are have offered to play in any stadium against any team. Florida, Alabama instead would prefer to play Georgia Southern, Troy,Florida International et al. The system is obviously rigged for these teams. In defense of USC at least they play tough teams outside of their conference at their stadiums. In addition USC has to play in the most varied environments such as the cold and snow of the midwest and cold and rain of the northwest. The SEC only want to play on their fast, green, and warm grass fields. Very wimpy.
not disgruntled about what happened in 1984. I don't understand at all where your comment comes from. Michigan had a lot of injuries that year (Particularly Harbaugh), and went into that game 6-5. BYU barely beat them, and simply didn't deserve the National Championship. Believe me, I'm not the only person who thinks this way. If you had bothered to check all that was written about it, you'd see what I mean. Like I said before, Oklahoma should have won the national title. Being a Michigan fan has nothing to do with it. Michigan didn't even deserve to be in that game. If you want to talk about games that Michigan got jobbed, there are plenty to pick from. I remember a Rose Bowl that we lost to USC by a touchdown that was scored by Charles White WHILE MICHIGAN WAS HOLDING THE BALL! Now THAT was fucked up!
BYU was the consensus national champion in 1984. Washington was 12-0 in 1991 and split the championship with 12-0 MIami, a year after Colorado and Georgia Tech shared the championship. There were also shared championships in 1997 between Michigan and Nebraska and in 2003 between LSU and USC.
