Now I'll give you, there are some wild and wooly fans whom tailgate to the extreme, passed out, some belligerency, etc...  but it's a limited amount and has never affected my NFL game day experience, negatively.  In fact, my friends and I relish the lunacy.  

For the NFL to measure and/or limit my ability to celebrate prior to the game is ludicrous, they do enough of that relative to ticket prices, concession prices, and the overall cost of being a fan.  

If this is brought about, I'll bypass my season tickets, and move back to tailgating at NCAA events, which are not able to limit our out of the stadium experiences.

The NFL should be focused on how to retain the fans, not limit them.  Backlash in Chicago and/or Green Bay, alone, might effect their bottom line.

a fool of himself and destroyed the game experience for Giant and Jet fans.  Indeed, I'd be rich as hell!  I used to go to Giant games, but I stopped because of all the drunks in the stadium.  But I go to Michigan games a lot, and have never had a problem with drunks making things bad for people.  Michigan gets 110,000 people a game, and never a problem save an occasional dumbass student, and they immediately get rid of them when it happens.  Michigan Stadium is dry, and I wish ALL stadiums were.  If people feel it necessary to get bombed at games, good, let them sit home and puke and pass out on their couchs in front of the TV.  Yes, there are a lot of people who can drink responsibly, but I would hope they would be willing to sacrifice their booze in the stadiums for the greater good.  If they want to drink at tailgates, fine, but if people are getting too drunk at tailgates such that the NFL wants to limit the time, I'm down with that.  Drunks at games ruin it for everyone around them!

The atmosphere at college games are so much better.  The dry rule helps with that.  At pro games, there is always a fight involving a drunken fan.  As CYNIC says, it really kills the mood in the stands.  Plus, these morons are setting a great example for the kids that attend the games.
