Am a big film buff & didn't have to look it up.

The Bendix film is one of the worst sports biopics EVER.

Without looking it up on the web, who played the Babe in the movie about his life?

Yeah, it was pretty bad wasn't it? I can still see Bendix very antimatedly pointing out to centerfield against the Cubs and the Babe's "called shot." Too funny.
Never saw the movie with John Goodman.

I have noted your regular cogent participation on the Politics board- Welcome-
Any how,  William Bendix=great as 'Riley' but the pits of the world as 'the Babe'
It is one of the few films I could not sit through- Made 'Ishtar' look like 'Gone With the Wind'
Later, Bro'   1rob.....OUT    8-)

Bull Durham came out amid a flurry of baseball pix (over a few years, anyway): Eight Men Out, Field of Dreams, Major League, A League of Their Own, and Cobb - to name a few. "Fear Strikes Out" was one of my favorites when I was growing up, and I enjoyed some of the bad old films that dealt with Grover Cleveland, Monty Stratton, and Dizzy Dean. Bang the Drum Slowly was baseball's "Brian's Song" - DeNiro and Moriarty were fun, but Paul Newman played "Awthur" in soliloquy back in the 50s, and I thought it was pretty good. and the Ken Burns history was great.
