Seems everytime I post that I have time available I have a bunch of appts booked for the next few days, then almost ALWAYS half cancel ...and people that booked days in advance so that when other people call I turn them down, because I have an appt and then wouldn't ya know...when the time come the original client cancels or just plain doesn't show up. I wonder, don't people understand this is our jobs?? I personally don't like the idea of having to require deposits and all of that but I understand SO much why some providers do this. So anyway I've had a weeks worth of appts not show up or cancel?? I have all kinds of appts open for the remainder of this week. I know exactly where you are coming from. I have never canceled an appointment. I have had two misunderstandings in the beginning, but eventually I got the hang of it without confusing appointments(times, dates, etc). Now how do I get the hang out of cancelled (DIS)appointments? Well for the most part I believe that most clients can't help it. They have something that came up. Those usually are very polite about it and reschedule again. I eventually meet up with them. The others are not as polite and don't even opologize, but then maybe it was best not to meet them in the first place. My mother always said(bless her with her inspirational phrases)just when one door closes another one opens. Some wonder why we charge what we charge, but there are a ton of reasons and some don't understand. One of the reasons is cancelled appointments. There was one day that 3 clients cancelled out on me. I was a little miffed, but all through it I was quite polite. There are just some things that cannot be helped. I believe one of them is fate. Wishing you the best...Absolutely, Symphony
