There is a way to put a board together. I know how it is done. The servers and registrants (owners) would be entirely overseas. I would need a geek to do some coding. I have the connections with people way out of US jurisdiction who have adult web pages. They stay out of trouble because neither the servers nor the owners are in the US.
If I help you do this, will you people pissing and moaning leave TER? I might help for two reasons. You would collectively have to deplete a small portion of your meager finances since nobody works for free. I would get rid of you ingrates once and for all.

I remember when CL shut down, and people moved over to "you know where", the transition was pretty easy, but the community was fierce, and i mean FIERCE. Trash talking, demeaning condescending behavior all over the place. The people from CL came over quietly and adjusted and yes of course there was the usual confusion of site navigation and setting up shop again, amongst the so called "hollier then thou" natives. However, in no time things settled in and people got along. The helpful review system and VIP access perks helped clients and providers feel safe and together again.
I must admit that this is the first time that i have seen a displaced population complain about the community that has accepted them, but i truly believe that they are not complaining TO the TER community, but are instead simply trying to adjust while complaining amongst each other, since most complaint posts are aimed at the same members of their displaced community. This type of conversation would take place regardless of location, but the very nature of this cyberspace community makes it visible to everyone, including the "holy" natives. As mentioned, there have been attempts to regain that lost community, so it's not like we are really interested on soiling your "holy" ground with our mere presence. These attempts have been thwarted up to 3 times now. See the dedication in keeping our community together? The fact is that it won't be possible now, unless like you mentioned, another person interested in creating the same type of website does so from an offshore account and resides in an offshore place.

It was my *introduction* to the internet. I was too old to have been a part of the internet and no idea what web groups were like. Well stated... For the record I signed up and have been using ter on and off since 2004 getting my first review in 2005. That's ten years coming and going. This system just did not pull in as much business for me personally so I followed the money.

Very well written! I can't think of any better way to put it. The old-timers here and the new nouveau faux-rich such as Ben maybe exhibiting symptoms of "over-exuberance" but they need to calm down. The refugees here are exactly just that refugees, for now. There is no guarantee whatsoever that they will stay for the long term. They need to get this into their heads: for the moment this is but a temporary stop for some of the refugees.
The way things are set up here I sincerely doubt there will ever be a sense of community the way it was over there. I used to check in almost everyday and averaged 3-6 posts a day on the old site. Not here!
Sure there were both goods and bads about the former site but IMO the goods far outweighted the bad, especially in terms of hobby 411s. Throw away all the discussion forums and the other site still shines as vastly superior and unequalled as far as being helpful to both providers and clients in finding each others in the hobby

This site, for it's 4 new Ads across the entire area per day, and it's various rules weighted against new users, such as the way Reviews are handled, is not really doing the refugees any favors. You really can't intelligently claim that what is on offer for any wanderer for free is a special favor to the any of us. None of us have come here to find equivalent functionality or resources, there were a few new boards added, that help everyone, but that also just makes sense with an increase of users for a given area. The board is barely doing itself any favors, much less the people who came here.

Well Ben, you were detested over there and I didn't understand why until now. I'm a bit concerned for your health with all the bile you must be swallowing.
Tens of thousands of advertisers who unfortunately put all their eggs in one basket have become homeless. You blame us for trying to recreate what we had that worked so well for us and then becoming upset that it didn't work. 800 members in just a few days on one, 200 members on another, a chat room to connect in real time, all shut down leaving us further shell-shocked. We came here in the hopes that we would find another home. Amazingly few, however, given the more than 200k registered advertisers on that site.
Because I had a review from 2010 and appreciated a site that had forums where I might again feel connected, I did what I was asked to do to be in compliance. Now I have a new member who cannot review me and another member whose review was rejected because it wasn't "explicit enough." I can't even fathom what that means but understand that even those of us who came here attempting to play by your rules are being driven away because you are making it so difficult to be quickly accepted and successful here.
Asking people who are trying to keep a roof over their head and food on their table to be "patient" is insulting.

I came in peace back in 2-07. It had been about 15 years since I had mongered. I had my head handed to me. If you did not kiss their ass, they were determined to destroy you. I know they were trying to gather information on me. They did not count on the fact that I would simply hire private investigators to gather intelligence.
