I have a dinner date in SF coming up next month. We are both coming from out of state and he asked me to choose the restaurant. I have just one chance to have a spectacular meal in your great city. Can you recommend a "farm to table", "gastro", romantic, special place to eat? I checked Yelp but still felt lost.
Check that website; asking about a good place to eat in SanFran is like asking for a nice casino (or smokin' hott provider) in Las Vegas.... too too many to choose from. You'll do great and you will NOT be disappointed.

I normally like to pick Farrallons on post st. The menu is aways different. All my clients who took me loved it. It is one of my favorites restaurants in SF.

It sounds like you want a memorable dining experience. I can't believe that somebody told you to look up some "top 100." It must have been a tourist who posted that. Fortunately for you, I happened to see your post.
Here are three restaurants for a real "farm to table", "gastro", special experience etc. in San Francisco. Google them up and take your pick.

If interested in healthy Vegan food, Millennium is your best bet. If it's a party of 2, request a private or larger table as many of their 2 seaters are arranged side by side with little privacy
its way out in the avenues though, so if you are staying downtown, it will be a drive.
I don't think you can call it a romantic place either, but check out the yelp and website
Other than Foreign cinema and the place Angel recommended there is not a single one on that list I would eat at. I have not been to the one you recommended.
Of the three I mentioned this is my top pick for the spectacular dining experience she wants :
however; I live in Sonoma County and commute to the city and well, THANKS for all of the great suggestions. I look forward to checking out some of these spots each time I go to my office in San Francisco...
I'm famished now!

The day after your feast the guy flying in may want some time to himself. So, while you go shopping, let him go to a good Scotch and Cigar bar. There are few things a man with his priorities straight needs to put above a lady.
His cars, single malt scotch and of course cigars!
