Now you are thinking of going to the cops to turn her in and complain about the theft. You give them your real name and address, confess to the misdemeanor (hoping they will overlook it, right? Out of what? "sympathy"), and then expect them to go grab her and arrest her, recognizing that if they proceed with the case against her you will have to be a witness. What drugs are you on? I mean, put it away, guy, and start thinking with the bigger head. Next time, don't carry more than you expect to spend, especially in the company of those you don't know and should not trust.
He wouldn't have to identify himself. The cops would probably look into it - if she's steals fron someone this month, she might assault someone next month with a weapon. Or she and a male friend might beat one - the city, with Tourism already down, will not want the bad publicity. If he just calls from a pay phone (not near his house - and wear a hat and glasses in case there is surveillance on the phone) and explains that this provider robbed him, they might sting her.
I do agree with the suggestions about not taking extra cash and other valuables (jewelry, watches, etc...) - and don't forget to leave the credit cards and ATM at home too - but depending what neighborhood the provider is locaed in I don't know if I'd recommend leaving the wallet in the car. Better to just take your license, registration, and proof of insurance and leave everything else at home.
Learn a lesson here. Do not take your wallet with you no matter what. LEAVE IT IN THE CAR. Keep the exact amount of donation in a pocket and that's it! You really are paranoid. Some guys just don't have the time and maybe didn't know they needed to leave their wallets in the car. This is supposed to be a place where hobbyist can get informed opinions. You should keep your paranoia to yourself. If you are such a fan of this particular provider then just say so.
