Hello local ladies and gents!!

I am possibly asking a rhetorical question but just curious. I am visiting your fine city for a few days and have really only one day to sight see. I have not been to your wonderful city in over 6 years and sooo excited!!

Besides Haight and Ashbury and Alcatraz my question to you all is

What would you do if you had one day to do ANYTHING in SF.

First off, welcome to our beautiful little city. Glad you'll have a chance to sight see. Luckily for you, this is a very compact town and you should have no problem fitting in a few activities. I assume you are staying near downtown/Union Square. If so, I recommend taking a whirl on the Cable Car - I recommend the Powell-Hyde line for breath-taking views. Just don't waste one second of your precious time in Fisherman's Wharf. It's horrendous! The only worthwhile attraction there, as far as I'm concerned is the newly opened Musee Mecanique www.museemechanique.org/.

Next, head across town to Golden Gate Park www.golden-gate-park.com/

There are so many amazing attractions there, so I'll let you research what interests you most, but my favorites would be the De Young Museum, the Japanese Tea Garden and the Conservatory of Flowers

From the park, the Golden Gate Bridge won't be too far away. Walk over to Park Presidio and hop on the 28 bus line and you'll be walking across the bridge in no time. Hopefully it will be nice and clear. Foggy days on the bridge are no fun!

there shouold be some exceptional hybrid roses.  If you go across the Golden Gate Bridge, think about lunch in Suasalito or Tiburon, and later dinner in the Italian North Beach area (my favorite is Fior d'Italia on Mason St.).  And in the city, the Asian Art Museum is exceptional, and if you're into modern art, the SF Museum of Modern Art on 3rd south of Market usually has some good exhibitions on.

There's so many things to do! I always enjoyed having a mice lunch outside and people watch. Sometimes you see the most intresting things and the weather is always perfect!

The Japanese tea garden is a great spot to visit too.
It's kinda a tourist-y spot but their tea and sandwiches in a beautiful, well-kept area is amazing.

FYI, the squirrels there are not afraid of people and may very well approach you  

swim the Bay!...lol    I swim train out there..and play on the side.. also in the same boat..thanks for posting this... I'm overdosed on the normal tourist stuff and looking for something different without having to rent a car,..

I would go to the Explortorium (sp?) and play with stuff all day lol
