For years I’ve lived in Tijuana. Tourists visiting the downtown and red light districts are safe—contrary to what some have posted.
In the ten plus years I’ve a tourist and/or resident there has NEVER been a shooting in a bar (like Hong Kong, Adelitas, etc.) located in Tijuana’s red light district. I challenge anybody who thinks otherwise to name names: which bar, when.
If your afraid to visit a bar in TJ’s downtown and/or TJ’s red light district then you definitely shouldn’t visit a bar in San Diego. A quick Google check shows the following about San Diego bars:
A 37-year-old man was hospitalized Monday with gunshot wounds…The man, who is expected to survive, was thrown out of the Quality Inn bar at 2901 Nimitz Blvd.[San Diego, CA] Sunday night for fighting and the fight continued into a hallway
An 18 year-old Los Angeles gang member was sentenced to 31 years in state prison for the San Diego fatal shooting of a man after an argument took place outside a San Diego bar.
A 25-year-old San Diego man was killed in an early-morning fight outside a bar on Morena Boulevard, a San Diego Police homicide detective said. (Jan 10, 2009)
Two men got into a fight about 10:35 p.m. Saturday in Canes Bar & Grill near the [San Diego] Belmont Park roller coaster …The gunman fired nine rounds, missing one man, but hitting another man who was on the street in the leg,
A 39-year-old woman was shot in the ankle while leaving a private party at a club in North Park early Sunday, according to San Diego police.
I repeat: Nothing similar has happened in bars located in Tijuana’s downtown and red light districts. They’re tourist friendly and safe for tourist to visit.
All the San Diego bars that you mentioned that had shootings are pretty darn divey!!! I wouldn't go to any of those!
I have traveled all thoroughout Baja for years and years. If guys want to spend the time to head down to TJ... so be it. I am not arguing that is not safe.
Just seems better to get exotic women when you are on a international vacation. Headed to TJ is not exactly classy. Let's just be honest.
