I went to TJ years ago for a friends birthday. The plan was to hit up strip clubs while we were down there, but the distinction between strip club and brothel is pretty fuzzy.

At any rate, I wound up "going upstairs" with a reasonably attractive girl (maybe 7/10 irl) for 200 bucks worth of pesos (not sure exactly how much). She didn't offer protection and I had to stop her in order to provide my own, so that sketched me out, maybe more so in retrospect.

 
So, I wound up having a good time, but I don't think that I'd actively seek something like that out again. The safety factor just isn't there in mexico.

 
As for the out-of-bedroom parts of the trip, well, if you keep your wits about you, you'll be fine. Don't go outside of areas where there aren't other white people and you'll be fine. Most of these murders, kidnappings and such you hear about are dumb white people who get drunk and wander into the bad parts of town. Just don't do that and you'll be fine. I've never personally felt particularly 'unsafe' in tourist-y mexico.

You'll be in the middle of a third world war zone, in a cheap hotel, carrying lots of cash with your pants down. What could possibly go wrong? (Just make sure everybody sees your MAGA hat).

That being said, I've seen many women south of the border.  No issues.....

I used to go there all the time.  Locals are gorgeous, friendly and affordable.  Best to go with someone who has been there before the first time.  Street girls are sketchy, I do not recommend even though they can be in the $30 -$50 range.  Bar girls at Hong Kong and Adelita's clubs are about $80 plus room fee.  Not GFE, but you can get several in a night and hang out at the bar between rounds.  The agencies are more expensive, but worth if you get the right girl.  Good luck.
