Now that I have your attention:

Live theater in San Diego!

I just saw Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots at the La Jolla Playhouse (uh-mazing) and was looking around at the other shows upcoming there and at the other SD theaters. I was curious if there were other live theater lovers out there also. My goal this year is to see at least one play each month. I am looking forward to the Nutcracker by the California Ballet this month at the Civic Theater or the Spreckles Theater downtown doing the Nutcracker through City Ballet but can't stand waiting for Billy Elliot in April. I'm also looking forward to the Grinch and A Christmas Carol.

Any other lovers of the drama (the entertaining kind).

Thoughts on all types of entertainment in S.D. are appreciated.

You are right, of course--the other type of drama is unwanted.   :)

The Nutcracker is always good this time of year.  The dancing, costumes, and great music make for a highly enjoyable time.  It always puts me in the Christmas spirit.

Xoxo, KL

Been to a couple symphonies at Copley Hall.
The music is quite dramatic.

Debussy, Sibelius or Bach pieces always work for me; symphonies or less. But it is great that theater arts are doing okay in SD! I think I know one guy in the pits. San Diego, as much as I love it, has always been a dead spot on the fretboard for the arts. Too many good waves and good times for artistry.

20+ years of waiting for the great artists to come here and honestly, they usually are far from second rung. Sometimes though, the great ones play and shine here, so there is always hope. :-)

I do look forward to some theater reviews though. I only have enough mental headspace for one art, right now.

We should do a "double feature special" for theatre friends in SD.

Just a thought.....

I saw the Nutcracker last year and I think I want to see both (The California Ballet and City Ballet versions) to see the differences.

I'm trying to experience more of the rate (preforming and otherwise). I used to see plays and go to concerts a lot when I was younger and have jut been so busy until recently that I haven't been able to go.

Sometimes these threads are confusing to a befuddled old man. Are you responding to me or Goldie.
