So I've been reading porn star related threads and I'm a little disappointed to read that the majority of hobbyist's view PSE as a less than amazing GFE. I always thought PSE was better than GFE, not a cold, impersonal experience. I should also share that I am a Porn veteran myself, alththough I went by the name Gabriella Banks, google me if you wish 
For me PSE means you get the girl you see in the movies, before and after sex
I have been very, VERY, V-E-R-Y lucky in that almost all of my girlfriends loved sex and were very open minded. There are very few things that porn stars have had on many of my GF's.
Of course, my GF's haven't been as hot as porn stars, but I think that is kind of the point...in porn you have BEAUTIFUL women, women who are out of the league of many guys, who are doing everything, doing it with intensity, and doing it on video for you to enjoy forever. Society has changed enough that most women do much of what is on the menu in porn...at least until they have been married a few years. 
Given the economy, there are a lot of women working this business right now, so as Patricia said, then menu is probably bigger than it ever has been because of that competition.
Additionally, the reason some guys look at PSE as a "cold, impersonal" experience is that that is THEIR take on porn...after you get off, you are left by yourself with video (and usually the scene ending). They don't connect with the actual person in the video.
I have never looked at PSE as an "either/or" (unless you are with someone who is putting on an OBVIOUS act, which there are some of and is another reason some guys look at PSE as impersonal)...I look at it as like a "turbo switch". Realistically, though, for a single guy like myself, GFE is usually what I am looking for. I would think PSE would usually be more of what the married guys would be looking for.
