Since I don't have anything to do today, and don't leave till tonight, can someone suggest something fun to do so I don't have to sit in my hotel for the rest of the day? I would like to see something before I leave. I now there are many options but I want to do something different than the norm. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

I am just sorry that you are not in LA with "nothing to do." Those guys do not know what they are missing. If I were there, I could entertain you all day. In the meantime, if you have not been to Sea World, it is worth the time. http://www.seaworld.com/seaworld/ca/attractions_home.aspx

If you like Sea World I suggest a visit to Manzanar. That way, once you realize that the place your visiting was built on the unjust incarceration of defensless beings forced to live in deplorable conditions, you'll feel better knowing that you didn't actually help them profit by torturing helpless creatures into performing tricks because you were bored.
Or maybe a drive up the coast with a shy bald dude? Nope, its Manzanar.

I agree with deplorable, but not with unjust. The Japanese were considered enemy combatants, therefore a security risk. For homeland security, you have to take whatever measures to provide safety.

I feel sorry for the Japanese Americans. They were just pawns in a larger game. FDR forced the Japanese to bomb Pearl Harbor by not only denying japan oil and other goods via embargo, but also moving the Pacific Fleet from California to Hawaii.

I provided a link regarding FDR's manipulation to bring the United states into a war that over 90% of Americans wanted no part of..

Last I heard those poor abused animals at Sea World live better than most people. Don't they live something like twice as long as their brethren in the wild? And I don't see too many vets going on sea calls to the open ocean when a dolphin gets mutilated by one of the Great Whites in the liquid 'hood. As a matter of fact, I remember reading where dolphins are one of the only animals, besides man, that kills their own for reasons other than protection or food. Haven't heard of too many capital cases at Sea World.

I think maybe I'll let my dog and cat go today because it's sooo mean to keep them in captivity (plus I'm tired of cleaning the cat box anyway). I'm sure they'd have a better, more fulfilling life dealing with the coyotes and other elements of nature.

And gosh, what a fun suggestion for someone visiting San Diego to go to this place Manzanar. Why there's an uplifting experience. Sounds like a real hoot to go see some evidence of a sad part of our history that happened 60 years ago.

Me, I think I'll just do something boring like go surfing, to one of the theatres, or one of the museums in Balboa Park, or that big animal prison called The Wild Animal Park, or out to the deserts or Carlsbad where the flowers are blooming. Maybe even just enjoy living in an area that's perpetually 70 degrees year round.

Good suggestion about Manzanar though, I'll have to wait until I'm really down before going to that uplifting place.

You're wasting your time Gordo dealing with liberals!

But Gordo, what about all those poor flowers in Carlsbad forced to live in such close confines and to bloom in spring and then plucked only to be shipped to New York or some other cold climate...I am sure they will be put in jail (read Greenhouse) to serve out a life sentence...Me, I reject all flowers and will only let Dandelions grow in the wild!  Remember, liberalism is a mental disorder....

You're right G,
I like your response and can see where you're coming from. If I could double my life span by merely having to spend my entire life in a 6'x6' cell, I'd jump on it too. I agree, why don't we see more veterinarians, dolphin mind readers or elephant enema nurses out in the wild to help these animals with their daily struggles?  I will follow your example that if I or somebody else doesn't invent something soon that is a little more effective than a damn box o' rocks, I too will release my 3 cats back into the wild from whence they came. Hell, coyotes gotta eat too.
As for Donna, she was gone long before my response an now I'm off to check out this Balboa place. Do they allow Republicans?

Donna,
I have to be or they'll send me to jail. Two strikes against me already on account of my shiny head and my criminally vulgar shyness I'm up against the 3 strikes law.
I've been convicted of a shyness that was criminally vulgar and my scalp pleads no contest to the charge of being shiny. If I get caught acting the way I used to they'll sentence me to Sea World.
