Are there sacrifices that you have had to make in order to see that special lady or two, (or three lol)?

I am fortunate to be retired and have both the time and means to pursue the hobby as I please. One of the other gents jokingly said he has sacrificed his golf game for the hobby. In my case, I actually often book play dates or FBSMs after a golf tournament due to nearby incalls of some lovely ladies. Especially when I play up near Esco, where one particular lady has a perfect love nest awaiting the hobbyist.
Re your specific question I have been told by others that they either cannot play due to unexpected large medical/dental bills or economic downturns. And I'm also aware of a few who have dipped well into their retirement or IRA accounts to continue to be players. Not a wise choice IMHO, but if it keeps them happy that's their business.

Very hard thing to do.

 I was having a conversation with someone who had used his insurance payment a few years ago to see a girl cause he had that "itch" to play and it got me wondering if this is normal or abnormal?

For me, when i start using resources allocated for other essentials like insurance, car payments etc that's a sign that there's something wrong. The hobby is a luxury, not a necessity.  I've bartered, I've used credit, I've negotiated. But in the end, I pay my bills, provide for my family, put food on the table, and then if there is discretionary spending left over great. If not ... oh well.

I have very limited funds and must budget carefully to manage a twice monthly roll in the hay.
While I am married, this is the grand total of my sex life (unless you count self pleasure).
I am currently trying very hard to enjoy the pleasures of a very beautiful, sexy young lady
whose rates are far beyond my capabilities.  To do so, I will have to settle for only one
release in a month, although I am certain it would be worth it.

Financially, as was said, perhaps using the resources on other things, but no never sacrafice. Hevens no!  
I have missed some very appealing ladies because my resources were low i.e spent for the month.  I simply had the disapline to walk away knowing that next month there would be someone else catching my eye, lol.

Many years ago, when I started this little hobby, a few guys gave me a bit of advice that I have always stuck too.  This is a luxury and not a necessity.  If you can't pay your bills, put food on your table then you shouldn't be playing.   So, I have never sacrificed the necessities for a provider.  

In the past I have missed scheduled meetings, missed deadlines and the like. As far as money, the only thing i have sacrificed is seeing more ladies. A few times I have had to say no because I just saw one that day or a day or two ago.

Occasionally in the past, I might put off a purchase of something in order to play. However, I have a set amount of discretionary spending that I put aside every month, and I learned long ago not to play outside my means. I retired from my job in March, and with the reduction in income, I have not played recently while I adjusted to my new status.  

I budget fairly carefully, and most of the time choose wisely.  The cost is more emotional for me.  Before seeing someone I've never met before, I often feel very nervous.  I wonder what she's really like - is she as good as her reviews?  Will we hit it off?  Can I perform?  Will she upsell?  All this often translates into a restless night's sleep followed by a distracted morning at work.  I don't usually suffer from jitters on the second date.

Good question miss Bliss. Yes, after my first experience I realized I was in for a long tour. I guess I have spend less money on new clothes, did not purchase a new car and did reduce the amount of dinners at expensive restaurants. I am saving money for it, always, but never thought of it as a loss and my close family has not been affected. Education, support for travel etc

No, I don't sacrifice in order to pay to play. I agree with those who feel that what we do is a luxury than a necessity. If someone forgoes to pay their bills in order to see a lady, then he has a problem. I simply stick to my budget and when I have enough, then I can see someone. My time with a lady is just as therapeutic as it is sensual. My stress and tension has been taken away and I feel like a new man. It's about a good as seeing a head shrink, no pun intended.

nothing important really, just food, cigarettes, & cocktails, although rent and utilities were always paid on time.
