I find it very interesting that there has been no sd union tribune coverage of the lastest massage/provider crackdown. This kind of story would seem to be "headline" material. Does sdpd have a reason to keep coverage to a minimum? No press silence about all the "street" stings on El Cajon blvd and other places. Here's another interesting thing. I remember about 3 or 4 years ago that sdpd formed some kind of citizen committee regarding some of the vice laws here: especially regarding strip clubs. They actually toured some of the clubs here with the thought of possibly relaxing some of the strict regulations re: six foot law and what the girls could wear off-stage. Well, the citizen committee actually recommended relaxing some of the regulations, but once it was presented to the city council, the bluenoses on the council reacted predictably. The former seminarian, asshole Juan Vargas was shocked that they were even considering relaxing some of the vice laws. One of the female council members advocated legislating the clubs out of existence. The report was quietly shelved and sdpd and the city attorney's office wisely realized that years and years of court fights loomed if they tried to legislate strip clubs out of existence. Now as far as I know, strip clubs are NOT protected under first amendment freedom of speech/expression. However, there is a real gray area regarding "community standards" Since the clubs have existed here is SD for about 40 years, it would be hard for the city to argue that "community standards" are against adult entertainment that is within the vice laws. Especially since there is no community outcry to close strip clubs, massage parlors and the like. It is all from the top down; sdpd vice, city council.

Hey whats happen to my favorite massage parlor Stress Free on Mission Gorge? Stopped in for some FS and got nothing, not even a HJ. Go figure.

May well be the LE situation (see above post).

Wonder if I can take back my vote for Dick Murphy?

I'm not sure "Dick" Murphy is behind the LE crackdown on sensuous massage in San Diego. Rather than a top-down mandate to "crack down", I think that it's more likely that sdpd vice is just doing this all on their own to justify their own existence. Even though there is no current political pressure to "clean" this town up, there is also no citizen, political pressure for vice to leave those nice massage girls alone. What might take some of the pressure off is some kind of press (sd reader?) exposure of the tactics that sdpd vice is using to bust sex providers. I'm sure that they are using taxpayer money to "test" the waters to see exactly what the providers are doing that is illegal. Then after they get off, they plan how they are going to bust the girl. Your hard earned tax dollars at "work"

Many of the massage and adult entertainers are planing to work out of town or move to another town. LE is out of control and they are using tax dollars to take advantage of the girls. Many of these girls are hard working single mothers with children to feed. San Diego LE really SUCKS!!!

The girls need to get a good attorney that will expose the LE tactics that are going on.  What is the old saying, "it takes a crook to catch a crook."

I agree there probably isn't some top-down mandate or other self-serving insidious reason for the current "crack down" by LE.
I've had friends in the industry in SD for years, these "crack downs" appear to occur in cycles that correspond to the culmination of sting operations that have been in progress for up to 2 years. Recall when vice busted Club Velvet for drugs about a year ago, for months after that people started getting frisked at every dance club but then security got lax again.
For AE the major incident that ruined SD was the law that finally passed about a year ago aimed at curbing "indecent" behavior in adult bookstores and strip clubs. Since then AE has certainly suffered in SD, but it's bounced back.
So entertainers, please don't bolt from SD based on this current crackdown, everyone be careful and patient, things will calm down...we like you, we want you to stay (except for the ripoff artists, you know who you are).
I agree that SD SUCKS for AE, but I don't blame LE, I blame the ignorant right-wing conservative and HYPOCRITICAL voting/nonvoting population of SD!
AE is humanity's oldest profession and should be it's most respected. Like the war on drugs the war on AE will never be won, it's all politics, all for show and personal gain.

I couldn't agree with Lapkitty an Anom2 more.  I'd be curious to hear from some of the providers about the unlawful tactics employed to trap and arrest providers.  Bet it would raise more than just our blood pressure!  Lapkitty, you may be right on the money about getting a left wing, advocate type medium such as the SD Reader to expose the underhanded, illegal, taxpayer funded tactics that occur.  May well be the time has come to put a different spin on the ball!
