I know.. I am an idiot and it won't happen again...but here is the situation and if you could advise as to what to do, that'd be great...

A very known, very well rated provider that I have seen before asked me to use my credit card to pay for a plane ticket. In exchange, she'd see me for free and reimburse me 2 weeks later when she visit San Diego. Because her flawless reputation, I did it. She even advertised on the SD board so I know that she was coming. A day before her appointment, she called me to let me know that she canceled her trip because she was sick but she would reschedule. I figured, shits happen... I have not heard from her since ( it's been a month ). She posted on other boards so I know that she is fine and active.

I very nicely emailed her, called her, texted her just asking her to settle with me. She can send the money via western union or schedule a visit to San Diego. She has ignored me. We are talking about $1300...

I make a decent living but I am not rich and it is a lot of money to me. Again, if it was just any provider, I would have never done it but she has a stellar reputation and promised me that we d have the session of a lifetime. At this point, of course, I don't even care about the free session...I just want to pay off that card.

What can I do?

Thanks...

...well, this is like any other loan to an acquaintance --  nothing really any different. Do you have any evidence at all that this was a loan instead of a gift? I know from watching years of Judge Judy that if you don't have any written evidence (a signed note from the borrower), that you're pretty much shit out of luck when it comes to taking any sort of legal action for payment. I guess your best bet in that case is to keep bugging her about it and hope she pays up. An expensive lesson in any case.

Very expensive lesson and I hate myself for being so stupid.
No signed note , nothing... We had an appointment schedule 2 weeks later and since I know her and she has a stellar reputation, I figured, why not? So I let her use my credit card...I feel so stupid it makes me sick to my stomach...

Would you consider a review as a no show? That is what it really is.

Been there done that & never again!

Sorry for your situation.  Remember that in the future whatever problem they have is not your problem.  This is true in dating as well.  You can feel empahty but dont give them any money.  I doubt that you will get your money back.  Let her know nicely that if she does not communicate with you that you will let her name out on TER.  She has probably done this before.  Never agian ok !

I can understand the use of an alias, but if you can stand the heat outing this provider with a detailed accounting is about the best you can do. Just remember, all loans should be considered gifts! Sorrry to read about your situation.

Very sorry to hear that you have had to deal with a charlatan and a scam artist :( There is no sense to start giving you lessons or to read you the riot act, as  I am quite sure that you feel terrible inside and this kind of matters shall not be discussed with friends and relatives, so this kind of venue is your only outlet to vent out and to seek advice, plus warning others.

Someone wrote that you can submit a review and that is not the case on TER, unless you write a bogus review which will be pulled, if that Charlatan catches it and complains about it. There are a couple of other options available which are too unsavory for this amount of money (I am not belittling the sum, but in the grand scheme of things, not worth it to consider a legal avenue) and I am not even inferring or insinuating causing any harm to anyone! Capiche?

Your only bona fide option is to expose her and to hurt her where it may hurt her, i.e, in her bottom line $$$. The way to do this is to post your experience with her on the local TER message boards of every city that she plans to visit and hope that the post does not get pulled (check with the Mods) You have pretty much lost that money, which she can falsely claim was a gift or payment for services already rendered (you said that you had seen her in the past) You have no cause for a breach of contract, as there is seemingly nothing in writing.

Just do your best to expose this parasite and scum! There are many niceer Providers out there who deserve to get the business which this type of leech does not deserve! Good luck to you, CS~

Thanks everyone !

Yes it sucks and I have learned my lesson. I just left that person one last message and if we can't resolve this I will definitely let everyone know on every boards so that someone does not make that mistake also.
Again, this is a very much trusted and highly rated provider. I don't think that hurting her bottom like with do anything as she is retiring soon but at least everyone will be able to see her for what she is if she does not respond.

Well first, you might consider canceling the credit card you gave her the number for.

You might try contacting the airline the ticket was booked for.  I would doubt they would have given her a cash refund.  What some airlines will do is, keep the amount of the ticket in like their frequent flyer account so they can use the funds at a later date.  If that's what happened, maybe you can get them to instead credit your card.  You might have to go up a level to a supervisor as well.

A soon to be retiring provider kept a client's deposit after an aborted appointment. When accused of keeping the deposit, all she did was talk about how great her reviews and reputation were. He eventually got his money back, weeks later.

Is she based in Phoenix?

Yes... based in Phoenix.. and is often in Chicago... Seems that she did it to a few people now...

yes, and she should be stopped! How do we stop her if we don't identify her?

Simple as this: this is a one-sided argument.  The provider-in-question has not had an opportunity to tell her side, if there really is one or not.  There's enough details in this thread that you all can figure this out.  Maybe one of you will notify her concerning this thread.  I've already made an attempt to PM her, so we'll see what she says.

If she doesn't, I will take into consideration for the safety of hobbyists that she be revealed.  This is not a simple decision.  These are extreme cases, so it will be necessary to take great care.

I spoke with the provider and she apologized for not getting back to me. She said she would make it right so I will let everyone know. The situation could have been easily avoided with a simple text when I first tried to find out what's going on but it seems that she had legit excuses. Not throwing anyone under the bus here. Like I said before, I had fantastic experiences with her before so I am giving her the benefit of the doubt and believe what she says.

Aah, reading this makes me feel so blessed - once a provider put my trip expenses on HER credit card.
Of course, it was paid back, with a little interest.
I miss her, and then some.

Hope it all works out well for you.
