I just saw "Leaving Las Vegas" for the very first time this evening. A very depressing and dark movie but a gem of a time capsule that gave a glimpse of what life was like before the Internet, before 9/11 and before reality shows took over our way of living. I'm glad I saw it now so I can appreciate this tragic story of two lost and lonely souls finding each other, if only for a short time. If anyone in the community had seen this movie, what's your opinion?? I believe it is better to have someone in your life than to have no one. I have made a few friends in our community who have accepted me for whom I am, warts and all. Perhaps if we can look past other people’s imperfections, then maybe there would be fewer lonely souls out there looking for someone to be with.
At my stage in life, a great story of the road less traveled, letting go, and starting anew. Bittersweet and funny. I'm not a fan of his politics, but this movie is worth the rental.
Vonnegut and George Roy Hill... a combo that blew my mind even when I was a kid(and happened on this film by accident). Can't say I felt the same warmth when I accidentally clicked on "The Birds" as a child. Blech!!! Lil Red
