for going to the new Ballpark...really..

I have a friend that works downtown during the day and has a monthly parking pass to one of the ACE lots within reasonable walking distance to Petco. I borrow the pass. The downside is that it's a bit unnerving walking through the downtown streets at 10:00 at night back to the car. If you know someone with a pass, it will save a few dollars but I think I'd rather pay the few extra dollars and park closer and have a little peace of mind.
Not sure about this one but I hear that the metered parking on the street ends at 6:00 but the meter readers are off at 5:00. Good luck finding one of those spots.

There are quite a few lots on both 5th st. and 6th st. that are right in the Gaslamp Quarter. If you get there an hour or so before the game you should have no problem with parking and then also have the opportunity to enjoy some of the local establishments. And remember there are 20,000 or 30,000 other people leaving the park at about the same time as you, so it's really safe unless you had to park miles away.

1.75 covers trolley... You can park over on Harbor Drive for free. Walk two blocks past the Sheraton and take the 993 (I think that's the number) bus from in front of the airport  over to the train station and then the trolley right to the park.  It takes about 30 minutes total and you'll be in the company of other Padres fans.

Bus fare is higher than trolley fare $2.50 per way~~but you only need one ticket to cover both rides each direction. So make sure on the way into the game you stop at the booth and purchase your ticket for the ride back.

OR if it's a Sunday game, find a Yellow loading zone.. they don't get enforced on Sundays.

Parking in the Clock Tower next to the Metro Trolley station is $12.00 plus tickets two ways is another $3.50.

Or, park at Qualcomm and take the trolley from way out there.b  I don't know the timeline of that ride.  I think alot of people do it, though in order to tailgate... My alumni association is doing it coming up in July.

Hope you got tickets on First base line. Otherwise you'll get a big neck ache trying to see the scoreboard.

Buy your food downstairs rather than the upper levels if your seated up top.  They staff the topside with volunteers from the military and sometimes they run out of food even at the beginning of the game! (Meaning you'll wait an inning for your hotdog to come upstairs in a case from down below.)

One idea...

Park in the Horton Plaza parking structure, buy something and get validated for 3 free hours, and then head over to the park. Its a bit of a walk, but what could be more fun than cruising through Gaslamp at night?

I have always parked at the Convention Center, the underground parking, and that is a really short walk to the park.  It's only $8 to park there.  Never had a problem getting in or out.

Another thing that I had heard recently, but I need to check it out, is that loading zone parking (mark with a yellow curb) is free after 6pm.  Most people don't know this (I didn't know), so these zones are always open.

P.S.  Sorry about the cancellation - I had Friday off but got a last minute notification to pick up my daughter from the airport in the middle of the day.  :^(

Went to a day game last weekend -- parked in a nice parking garage at 6th and Market.  Three blocks or so from the ballpark.  $10.  Most everything else closer was already taken (and I looked!).

$17 at 10th & Market. It's the closest. I'd get there before 6.

There's free parking along the streets from 13th to 17th on I, J, & K streets. To get these, you should arrive before 5 and watch batting practice. The walk is under 10 minutes. You might have to drive around a bit, but it's free. There's also parking on the J street bridge (over 5 freeway).

Otherwise, the best secure parking is on the south lot of the Convention center. I believe it's only $8. The Padres don't tell you about this lot because they are not affiliated with it.

I'd grab a bite to eat prior to the game since quality/quantity per dollar for food at Petco is very low; even in the fancy restaurants and lounges.

I never knew you were a sports fan.  Go Cubbies (oops, I'm no longer in Sweet Home Chicago, am I?).  Used to live 2 blocks from Wrigley.

Actually...from what I've read (and experienced once).

The best is...the Metropolitan Transit Garage - the closest, no question, and $12.00., and, as of a couple weeks ago, only 20 % full on most nights.

The trick (funny word for this board) is you have to take 5 south past downtown to Imperial and sort of get there the back-door (ooh) way.

I've been to several games this year. I find it's easiest to park a The "Q" and take the trolley. There is a lot of information on parking at www.padres.com.

Support the #1 San Diego Padres! They will win the N.L. West this year. They are about to run away with the Western Division.

Chicago Baseball. That brings to mind Bill Veeck, Luke Appling, Early Wynn, Nellie Fox, Little Louie, Minnie Minnoso, Wilbur Wood, Billy Pierce and Carlton Fisk. Can't forget to mention Estaban Loiaza, "The Big Hurt" and "Mags". I'm a Padre fan from way back when, but I have aspecial place in my heart for Chicago baseball.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot mto mention my favorite Chicago ballplayer, Leon Durham.

Those lovable losers are every bit the corporate megalith the Yankee$ are. Teams like the Cub$ and Yankee$ are paying excessive salaries to mediocre players. Consquently small market teams can't compete.

Furthermore, Ernie Something would have been lucky to hit 400 career home runs if his home field wasn't Wrigley. Alot of cheap home runs have gone out of Wrigley.

Now why don't you take your rah rah Cubbie stuff over to the Chicago board?
