Ranchos!

They have two or 3 .  I like the one on 30th near University (the other ones are someplace in OB or Pt. Loma)

Great food.   - no cocktail license.   Very complete menu including Nopales; Chlaquiles, Chile Colorado, Chile Verde and Mole Poblano.  Excellent soups and seafood options with a full menu of shitaki mushroom filled; lactose free variations for the vegans in the crowd.

This place often rates very highly in local diner poles as both a Mex and a Vegetarian restaurant .

Thank you ladies and gents for the Mexican Restaurants suggestions.  I have given my friends/visitors the list, and they have tried some of them, including the Court of Jose in La Jolla.  I think they are going to try every one and give me a report!

Their affection to Mexican food, reminds me of when I lived in New Jersey in mid-80s for about 6 months, there was a Mexican Restaurant there [not even a Taco Bell was there those days], and occassionally when we would go there, there was always a 45 min wait!
