Since I've pretty much stopped this hobby, recreation, activity, vise, whatever for an improved homelife, I would appreciate any suggestions on where to go for a full STD screening so I can wander off into the sunset with a clear conscience. Never really been sick so I don't have a personal MD, and I did once use the public clinic off Rosecrans for the anonymity, but I would prefer to not go there again.

Any information for the best place for anonymous testing is appreciated.

Thanks, Gordo

There were equally as many males in the waiting room as females the last few times I've gone, altho all were under the age of 25, I'm sure, as it was located near a high school and college.

The people are wonderful, non-judgemental, and discreet. If you don't have insurance, they do appreciate donations. (If you go on their websites, you can see how much funding they have lost, so I've been as generous as I could afford.)

The full gamut, wherever you go, does NOT include certain things, so be sure to ask what you're being tested for, ie, mine didn't include Herpes - that is a special test; and I don't know that there is a test for genital warts (?)unless they just do visuals and look for signs.

Hopefully, you have already been vaccinated for HepB, which you can verify by the Titers test. If you haven't, it is still a good idea to have it done, though 'after the fact' as far as the Hobby is concerned.

Some people give false information when they go to clinics for STD testing, and that is their perogative. I think it's best to give real information and perhaps have a PO box set up for really private matters so that at all times, the real person can be contacted, as real things do happen.
That part is up to you.

Elise has great info in this area, so she may suggest other avenues.

Hope it helps.

Luckily, I'm jave insurance and my doc knows of my propensity for "high risk" (albeit "safe") sexual contacts, but you can also call Pt. Loma Nazerene college...

They have a clinic themselves and also referrals to other clinics such as La Maestra.

The main thing is that you need to be honest with the doc/nurse practitioner.  You don't have to say anything other than that you had a high risk sexual encounter with details as to what you did.  You don't have to say why or how.  Just insist it was high risk.

You'll probably want to specify ALL orafices that were exposed, things like gonorrhea and chlamydia can live "dormant" in the back of your throat.  I think that's the one thing most people getting tested overlook.

You'll be given a number so that when you call for your results only YOU will get information.  Rosecrans only does HIV testing is my understanding and there are too many other possibilities to just stop there and assume you're "covered".

(But Rosecrans will have referrals, too.)

Unless you go to a "real" doc, plan on spending plenty of time in the waiting room.

You'll be so happy after you've gotten your clean results you'll flip.

xoxo

I'm not certain they have a draw station in the San Diego area but you can call
AIM Healthcare  (818) 981-5681

this is the group that tests and maintains records for all the pornstars up in San Fernando Valley.  I get my blood drawn in Orange county and they have other drawing stations.

I prefer them to most of the other clinics because they use the PCR \DNA testing for HIV rather than the ELISA testing because the ELISA testing shows you a 'snapshot' of your health that is 6 months old, and you need to retest again in 6 months for certainty.
The PCR testing is a 2 week window and you can test again in a month for certainty.

Their costs are nominal for EVERYTHING... (around $300) and you don't have to be in the porn industry just tell them you are dating someone in the biz if you want.

They will take your personal information for their records but they are quite discreet.

Hope this adds to your info.

(( ELISA testing shows you a 'snapshot' of your health that is 6 months old ))

It should be pointed out that the newer Elisa tests (also known as third generation) are significantly more sensitive and have been shown to be able to detect HIV antibodies at the 36 day (6 week) mark in 97% of people.  It all depends on when you seroconvert and start producing antibodies, but the vast majority do so within the 4 to 6 week period and the tests will pick up those first antibodies.  The only exceptions to this rule seem to be people who have compromised immune systems that take abnormally long to detect the presence of the virus.

No doubt the PCR DNA and PCR RNA tests are the most sensitive, and can detect down to between 11 and 14 days, but getting them ordered is nearly impossible for the average joe, and even if you can, you pay at least $300 for that one test.

By the way, you can get the PCR DNA test ordered online from www.ehivtest.com as well.  Its $295 but sometimes the peace of mind is worth it.  Otherwise, just get the OraQuick rapid antibody test which clears you as of 6 weeks prior.

All you have to do is call AIM, ask them where the nearest draw center is to you, tell them which test(s) you want, and go from there.  Results take a couple of days.  It's easy.

You don't need to say you're dating a porn star (I think ML was sort of kidding).  Civvies are fine.
