I know it is the "dog days" here on the SD board...not a lot of inspiring threads of late.  Anyone have any comment on Brees signing and the Bolts outlook for 2005?

You are right, ...these boards are close to dead. Maybe a banana muncher might get things going here,...

I like what the Chargers are doing. Brees has a connection with Gates So i like keeping the QB around. I like brees staying for another reason also; you need a constant field leader and he has stepped into that position, he has seen the afc west blitz packages which would be a surprise to Rivers in his first season starting. Marty, don't screw around and give Rivers the starting job, brees is the man. Defenses will have to respect the charger passing game which will open up running lanes for LT.

I would look to trade Rivers and his high salary to move up in the draft. I would like to see the chargers grab a top wr. If not a wr, then a top defensive tackle or nosetackle.

I think Kurt Warner may be pricier.  Regardless, the Chargers are (finally) in a position of strength with 2 well regarded quarterbacks, either of which could bring some good talent back to SD if they decide to trade one.  Nice!

It is very rare that a rookie QB can step in and play at a high level in the NFL.  Big Ben being one of the few, and you saw he handled playoff pressure.  It takes these QBs 3 or 4 years to mature, like Brees.  I think the Chargers should keep Brees as the starter next year (and maybe even the one after that).  While Rivers gets tutored by watching Brees play and with Flutie in his ear. Time to start working on that D.
