San Diego's a big place, any idea what part of town you will be in? La Jolla is really nice, downtown would also be good. The Gaslamp District is the coolest part of town for nightlife, but may be a headache for clients to get into and out of. There's also Mission Valley or North County (Del Mar, Cardiff, etc) if you want a more layed back, beachey vibe...

NSF

any specific hotels you like in those areas?

I usually like to stay at the Marriott Hotel and Marina. It's a little pricey (at least from my perspective), but the rooms are beautiful, very well maintained, with great views, great service, and is very close to the Gaslamp district. While I've never stayed there, the Hyatt right next door is also very nice. One place that I wouldn't really recommend would be the Wyndham Emerald Plaza. I stayed there my last time in town, and was not really impressed.
Hope this helps. Love your site and I'd like to meet you the next time I'm in Vegas!

All are nice places..some price range.
Hope this helps....

Downtown San Diego:
Bristol Hotel
Marriott Hotel and Marina
Wyndam
Westgate Hotel
Westin Downtown
'W' Hotel
Solomar

Mission Valley:
Every major chain has a hotel there. All are about the same.

La Jolla Area:
Hotel La Jolla
Doubletree Del Mar (Suggest a Suite)
Embassy Suites La Jolla
Marriott La Jolla or Del Mar
Hotel Estancia
La Valencia

Or you can go a little further north and treat yourself to the Four Season Aviara.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful with the hotel suggestions.

that you should avoid hotels in the "Hotel Circle" area.  Wherever the heck that is.
