You can bring in a 3 months supply, though as the other person mentioned they probably don't care if you bring 6 months so long as it's not a controlled substance.  i.e. Vicodin.

But they are checking more closely.  I used to buy my hormones in TJ, but it's just too much hassle, even with a prescription.

My own situation is I have a prescription for Vicodin for migraines - it's running out and I went to a new doctor and she refused to write one for "naracotics."  I mean I've had the prescription for several years form my former doctor - I use maybe 10 pills a year.

So before I get my panties in a twist over the abysmal health care here in the US, I guess I'll be seeing you in TJ honey.

Lately, for reasons I am unsure of, an old football injury has come back to me in spades. I can still walk, but with considerable pain. My appointment with my doc is not for about 10 days. Can I get pain medication like vicodin from a pharmacy in Mexico and bring it back?

Would suggest if you go to Mexico that you get a doc there to write you a script so there are no problems at the border (Shouldn't be too difficult; I lived in Mexico for a brief time and there are many doctors who will do this)... In the meantime, I think the more important issue is  why your doctor won't see you for 10 days if you are in that much pain.. It may be time for a new doctor- Good luck-

As far as med's in Mexico. You need to have a written prescription, from either country is fine. I don't think there is a limit to the amount you can bring back.

However, if you are in that much pain. (And this didn't come from me) You might want to consider urgent care or the ER. Tell them the pain is extreme. Maybe throw in some numbness and tingling to speed up getting seen.
I'm guessing you have an HMO or busy dr. to have to wait 10 days. Health Care sucks..

Also, it may not help much. But I told Alieve is one of the most helpful OTC's for pain.

Speaking from experience....I have a prescription for a common drug...synthroid..for my thyroid.  I can get 6 months of meds in mexico for the price of one co-pay in America.  One time my bag was pulled, checked and then I had to go "to the other room"  Fortunately I wasn't carrying "narcotics" but they gave me a VERY stern warning.  I was told that the "law" is that you cannot purchase more than 6 months of meds at a time. just an FYI
