LOS ANGELES — Actors in adult movies filmed in Los Angeles will be required to use condoms under an ordinance signed into law by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and porn industry leaders say the regulation could lead them to abandon the nation's porn capital.

The law, signed Monday, will take effect 41 days after it is posted by the city clerk, something that could happen as early as this week.

I've been condom only in my movies since 1993 and it did cause me to lose a lot of work.  I'm glad they are requiring this now.

To be honest, I don't see why anybody really gives a fuck either way. When you watch porn with or without a condum it's not like your dick is going in the girl either way

From what I understand this will only be enforced if a company pays for a $1,500 permit..95% of porn that is shot is illegal because no small company is going to pay for a permit simply because it is not cost effective. Now the big ones like Vivid who have to pay for a permit which means having to pay the talent less money for scenes in order to get a  return on their investment.

I remember reading that Lisa Ann was going to do condom only scenes. That changed quickly when her phone stopped ringing for work.

This isn't the old days anymore, it's time that something like this finally get's put into place.  Many girls have lost work, just trying to be safe for themselves and for their partners in their private lives.

As much as I am all for a anal creampie film, I think with the problems of STD's running rampant and barebacking hobbiers going all in whenever possible...it's needed.  Unfortunately.  

A lot of men have told me that they prefer watching scenes without condoms.

As some have already observed, shoots will move elsewhere, or there'll be a way around it.

As noted above, smaller companies do not generally seek permits and companies with their own self-contained studios will not seek permits. I think the majority of porn shot in LA will remain condom less.

The city of LA was bullied by AHF into passing this law.  The city council passed this measure only because they wanted to save 4 millions dollars by not having to call for a special election.  
The city and the Mayor could careless about the porn industry.  I wonder if the Mayor even used a condom during his MANY sexual encounters?

Like many have said, this will just force the industry away from LA and will do nothing to change the acceptance of condoms in film.  It should of been from the industry itself doing it on their own and not from a multi-million dollar non profit organization that seems to do anything they please to get things their way.

From a psychological perspective, there are things in our brain called mirror neurons.  When a man watches another man having sex in a movie, his mirror neurons are firing and he is putting himself in place of the man in the scene.  If a man in the scene is not wearing a condom, this signals the mirror neurons in the brain to make him feel in his fantasies that he is having sex without a condom.

This is not a conscious process.  This happens on a subconscious level.  Most men that I have asked about whether they like scenes with our without condoms, the ones that do, can't really tell me why they like them better.  Or they make up some sort of answer like, it just looks better.

The movie companies know that movies without condoms sell better than movies with condoms.  Otherwise this wouldn't be such an issue.

It the same reason why men like to see the cum shots in movies.  I have questioned so many men about whether or not they like to see the cum shot in a movie, or if the scene would have the same effect on their arousal.  Most men say they like to see the cum shot, but they can't exactly explain why.  They'll try to give a reason like, "because then you know it's real."  But that is not the true scientific reason.

The real reason is the mirror neurons.  When a man sees another man cum, his mirror neurons fire and he can more vividly feel his arousal.  Dopamine gets shot into the nucleus accumbens which is the award center of the brain.

I hope you don't mind this techy psychological bable answer, but I am studying to be a research psychologist and one of my favorite things to do is to study the brain and how it affects our behavior, especially our sexual behavior.

When as a hobbyist, you can sit here and read about certain girls doing BBFS...while in town shooting for a website...I don't see why not as many people find that to be extremely risky as I do, whether or not everyone is getting tested prior.  There are other partners on both ends in their private lives that may or may not be getting tested.  

It's all too risky IMO.  It's a shame though that it took the government to step in and TELL US what to do.

I'm all for it.  Testing is great, it keeps sick people from working with others and getting them sick.  Condoms will help kep everyone save and I don't mind it at all.  Wicked is a very successful company and they are condom-manditory
