Okay this one applies to the guys for a change.

You can no longer make anouncements of ladies appearing in your town or their tour schedules. The ladies, their agents or their agencies can make these anouncements and it will be counted as their ad post for the week.

The reason for the clarification is due to a misunderstanding on my part and a gray area in the guidelines. It has all been straightened out now.

Question has been asked if this applies to personal apperances like strip clubs or only to working schedules?

It applies to both. The original post that brought this to a head was a listing of a Porn Star's traveling schedule to Feature across the country in various clubs. The decision was that it wasn't fair and would cause too many problems if Porn Stars were treated differently than other providers. Since the other ladies are not allowed to anounce when they will be traveling around the country, except in an ad, PSs shouldn't bew able to either. If we tried to make an exception for PSs then we would fall into that whole can of worms of what makes someone a PS and we all know that is a mess :)

halfway thru your paragraph i was about to knee-jerk with "but  pornstars are celebrities and different from regular providers -- their appearance notices already appear in dozens of adult websites and zines. they don't NEED to peddle their info on TER, so why not cut them some slack" ... but then i neared the end with that cursed "can of worms" and realized yeah ... it's futile to even try (to distinguish between PS and regular)

otherewise we'd have pornstar-wannabe providers coming on this board just to advertise (yikes) ... still, i'd like to think that as the moderator of this board you can exercise some good judgement when it comes to a REAL "celebrity" or "legend" or ...

something i saw posted on other TER boards recently which i do agree with 100% is stopping "fans" who post availability and appearnce info for "their" pornstars.  sometimes it's harmless (and honest) at other times it's rather insidious (and borders on shilling) ... i mean why should they get extra attention for being "nice" to the gals?  ;-)

singleton, if you're referring to me, I have YET to receive any "Special Attention" if you will & have made that clear to anyone that asks me.  I'll just have to convince her to set up an account here.

well GL, yes kinda i guess ... i mean you certainly do come to mind   :-)

but i'd say you mostly fall into the "honest & harmless" variety ... i've seen examples far more dubious than you ... anyway, you shouldn't care (or worry) about what i think ... more like what Michael/TER thinks!

and frankly, there's nothing wrong with getting "special attention" ... i for one strive to get it if-n-when and i can

OK, so let me get this straight... if a guy sees that a girl that has never escorte before is coming to his town he can not post it... even though as the girl is brand new and probably doesn't even know that TER exists... boy, how presumptous (sp?) of TER to assume that EVERY PS that tours knows that their site exists - or better yet wants to personally interact on a message board... Lol! I guess they've forgotten that not every girl wants to participate! That of course would encourage the "direct contact' bit, but aren't there more agency girls that indies in the porn biz???

Just playing devil's advocate...

thank you "Sin" ... you made the "Devil" himself proud!  ;-)

this is just what i was referring to with my first post in this thread (that exercising good judgement when it comes to true pornstars and their related announcements is at times needed)

taking (advocating) Sin's point to its absurd devilish limit would mean, for example, that me saying that so-n-so pornstar is appearing on Howard Stern tonight would mean that she would not be able to advertise on TER for a week! (assuming she even wanted to)

FWIW, i have a solution to all this, believe it or not ... but i'm sure it won't be adopted (so why bother)

Nope. Guys are not allowed to post any schedule for the ladies at all. So if you posted she was going to be on Howard Stern, it would be deleted.

Not sure I completely understand this one.

If she is a porn actress but doesn't know about TER, then no her schedule couldn't be posted. Unless she works for an agency and they would have to post it. If she had an agent, like Jillian, the agent could post her schedule. Either way the post would be an ad and would have to have a link that meets the requirements.

There can be no posts for schedules of porn actresses that do not participat in our hobby. You can post an ISO, for example: Sinnamon is coming into town, do she escort?

If a provider was being nice she could include her non-providing friends travel schedule in her own ad, as long as it met all the normal requirements.

"Since the other ladies are not allowed to anounce when they will be traveling around the country, except in an ad, PSs shouldn't bew able to either." -- TER

ok ... i guess TER rules are TER rules ... but let me just make sure i understand how we arrived at this juncture and also to make sure we don't accidentally violate these new rules in the future

so essentially, because it's "unfair" to the regular (non-pornstar) providers on TER, it is now forbidden for us guys to even talk about other legit pornstars appearing on TV and such (even those who don't escort or have TER accounts)? ... and it's unfair to talk about them even on THIS board, which is clearly not GFE turf, right? ... what about just talking about pornstars in general?  like me saying "GOD how i wish Belladonna would start escorting", would that be ok?

believe me, i'm NOT trying to be a wise-ass, just trying to figure out these new rules (i guess i'm slow that way).  cuz as recently a a week ago these "rules" were being broken by just about everyone here. and if now these things are now suddenly  verboten, i for one would like to be clear on them

General talk about anyone is allowed on this board, porn star or not. The major topic of the board is pon stars and the general trend should be that way. If you want to make announcements about porn stars appearing on TV or Radio, go right ahead. You are just not allowed to make announcements concerning physical personal appearances ie: featuring at clubs or doing signings.

ISO posts are still allowed and encouraged. General talk about a certain porn star touring is fine as well. Just keep away from giving dates and or times of appearance. You can post " Sinnamon is coming into NY next week, any contact info?" or something similar. You can not post " Sinnamon is coming to NYC on Friday for three days, any contact info?" this too much like an ad. Basically if you stay away from specific dates, you should be okay.

Yes, you could post these things until recently. As pointed out inthe original post it was a misunderstanding on my part about the guidelines, kind of a gray area. One of the guys posted an appearance scheule for a lady on another board and brought our attentionto the problem. This is how we are solving it.

I think the problem most of us are having with the new guidelines for the guys is that lack of understanding why the change... Guys have always posted about their favorite girl's or fantasy girl's travel intent or schedule - often with the hope of getting others to book her so a pricey porn star (or provider in general) would gather enough bookings to make her trip worth while and thus allow him to see her. In the PS case, there have always been lots of post regarding personal appearances, (clubs, signings, etc.) which brought on conversation about the performer, whether she "does or doesn't" and the prerequisite conversation about approaching porn stars in a club, convention or store setting with the purpose of hoping to get in between her legs... I always saw this as a part of the "locker room" mentality of the board. Hell, Tracy Lords, her new book, tv & store appeaarances to promote said book have been recent conversational pieces on the board and she not only is no longer in the business but also reportedly does not hobby either... While I appreciate TER's need to limit bandwidth on an essentially free board, I think what they are doing is creating more or less their own brand of censorship... Is it just me or has the board gotten rather boring lately with all the new rules? Although I must say, it's nice to see some rules applied to the gents lately! *giggle*

Personally, I've gotten kinda fed up with the whole thing... I don't post ads here any longer, but rather use various yahoo and msn groups - along with my personal mailing lists for various cities. The unwelcome feeling the board has developed has made me seek elsewhere. I'm sure it's only a matter of time...

Actually had a long and interesting discussionwith Staff when we were going over how the guidelines apply to porn stars. I picked up a couple general reasons for the changes.

The reason for the new guidelines in May was essentially annoyance. The previous rules for posting ads were vague and badly applied. There was alot of abuse of the rules and some of the boards were turning into merely listings of appearances, ads and specials. Not to mention all the posts and cross posts to the moderators from one lady complaining about another. TER is here for the guys and not the ladies. It is great to have the ladies here but really the site and boards are not designed for them. TER is also the largest reveiw board on the web.

Essentially the ladies were getting free ads space on the largest review board on the web, complaining about it and spamming the boards. So Staff decided to set some limits. One ad per week per lady. You can only post an ad if you have a presence on the web (website, escort mall ad or work for an online agency). If you wanted free traffic to your website, you had to include TER's logo on your page. Don't bad mouth TER on the web and then expect to get the benefits of posting free ads and having reviews posted. Those are essentially the rules.

TER is the largest review site on the web. TER gets more traffic than all the escort malls combined. If you don't want to post the TER logo on your site, then you do not get the traffic that TER can send your way. Staff is launching a more aggresive ad campaign for TER and you will start seeing ads in more national publications, adult publications.

I am personally of two minds on the porn star schedule issue. To save from just having major hassles, treating the porn stars like the other ladies will save on lots of trouble in the long run. However I know that the guys on this board are very active in keeping each other informed of who is appearing, when and where, which I think is a good thing. The best thing I can suggest is that the guys try to get the ladies to post ads or at least their schedules on the board.
