I think this has something do to with the "I'm a stalker" err, "I'm not a stalker" thread over on Eddie's Yahoo PSE group. I filtered out over 95% of it so I'm not sure.

i've always asked of folks on boards, just how hard is it to NOT CLICK on messages/threads that you know are not your business, not to your interest, or coming from individuals you may not care for ... now really, how hard is that?  ... i've already compiled a list of these people and i stay clear of them and what they post

but IF then you go and DO click on these posts and find that you ARE in fact annoyed and/or inconvenienced by them (as you knew you would) ... well then, you DESERVE to be inconvenienced and/or annoyed

it's the cyber equivalent of the boy who keeps picking his own nose until it bleeds and then complains about it bleeding

S,

You know that you and I agree on most everything (to this point ;). However, a little off topic chatter is one thing. The boards are not a place for private battles. I'm sure many member may find the back and forth entertaining. However, IMHO, private battles get old really quick. I have very few rules, but I stop the pissing contests after a few rounds. If you don't agree, cheer up! Michael will be back in no time. ;)

Actually it doesn't take most users long to start ignoring these people. I remember witnessing my first online flame war in 1979. Back then it was simple, it was just geeks trying to pretend not be geeks. Now, since the online world has gotten so mainstream it has gotten a lot more umm, weirder. People sometimes tend to use online forums as a vent for their alter ego. I, myself like people online to be on topic, well written and civil. But I'll settle for people just being on topic.

Not to throw any fuel on the fire, but aren't you one of the two people involved in the silliness on the yahoo PSE group?

frankly, no i'm not, but i guess that depends on what silliness you're referring to ... but then what do you really know about it if you passed over 90% of the posts in that thread?

there were quite a few people who posted under the "Mia, I'm not a Stalker" thread (which now seems to be the talk of the internet) who invariably became identified with the stalker himself. towards the end most of it was good-natured parody and humour even

if you had bothered to verify this for yourself before you inserted your ignorant $0.02 into the thread over here, or at least had paused and considered your words before criticizing thirsty for doing his job as a moderator, you really would have prevented "adding fuel to the fire"

---

ultimately, stupidity is contagious ... one should prepare for it ... unless of course one is alread infected ... in which case, i say revel in it ... ingnorance is truly bliss

Ah yes, the whole, "I'm a stalker" thread was a barrel of laughs.

I'm sure Mia won't be visiting that newsgroup again - if she ever bothers with the online loons again. Not to mention the ten or so users that Eddie mentioned left the newsgroup.

My position is well stated and is firmly entrenched in reality and fact. I am going to drop the whole issue because further discussion would be useless.
