It was confirmed today that CES is moving out of the Sands convention center to consolidate the show at the Las Vegas convention center.....it will be interesting to see if this causes a bit if a drop in room rates at the Venetian as only the AEE will be held at the Sands center this year

Geez, lets hope so.  900 for 2 nights at The Venetian was a bit much.  I was looking at The Mirage for the same weekend, and I can get a room there for 500, and its right across the street.  That may be a better option to save some cash for fun. lol

Cheers

Possibly, but all the Vegas hotel rates go up when the shows are in town together... I don't think it's so much as where the shows are as it is the number of conventionaires in town at the same time.

But with the economy the way it is, the rates may be lower regardless...

Keep in mind that if you reserve your room early and the rates drop, you'll get the lower rate.

Exactally I don't expect a huge drop but I have some buddies that go for CES for real (sure they drop by my booth at AEE too) but they actually have business at the CES side and they are already cancelling Venetian reservations as it is not a convenient hotel to the main convention center (there are shuttles of course but they suck if you have lots of stuff to carry back and forth) so maybe we might see a better rate or at least more availability at the Venetian in years past....Eddie makes an excellent point as well book now for the best likely rate and if they drop then mores the better don't take a chance on waiting

Don't be surprised if AEE moves to a different hotel as well. There are negotiations with another hotel going on.

doubt room rates will drop because it will not be at the Sands Convention Center. The town has had lower room rates than usual for this whole year so far.  But it is a supply and demand issue, when there are rooms available the rates drop and when there are not many rooms available they go up.

Venetian dropped there rates a lot! a couple weeks before the show back in Jan, probably do to the economy and low attendance so I doubt it will make that much different.

I hope they drop the rates, our bill for the hotel, roomservice, etc. was over $30,000 for 7 people at the Venetian last AVN/AEE.
