Guccione never marketed himself well (he was too much of an "artist", whether behind the camera or behind the canvas), but his product spoke for itself. In the 70's and early 80's, it was hard to speak about Playboy without speaking about Penthouse, and in those days, the two magazines we about equal in terms of quality, with Penthouse being having more explicit (yet arty...at least in the 70's) pictures.

Shouldn't be a guy on here who is old enough to have been a teenager or more back then who hasn't "saluted" his work. I love, though, reading all the comments on the Yahoo news article about his death talking about how he is going to burn in hell... for showing naked women.
