The IRA isn't funded by the USA... it's funded in part by individual Irish-American Catholics, and I'm sure there are Catholics from other countries (England included) who contribute as well.

Setting the hunt for the ultimate PSE aside for a moment, Thanks to all you guys and gals in the services who are watching our asses and who have throughout the years and several wars put yourselves in the line of fire,  and thanks especially to those of you currently in Iraq.  Hopefully some of you get the chance to read this board while you're over there and get some enjoyment out of reading about our adventures with beautiful pornstars.

We don't say it often enough, but we appreciate what you do!

I would like to thank my father (Army), his brother (Marines) both of them fought in Vietnam and both of my grandfathers who have passed on, both Army men, one fought in WW2 and the other in Korea, also both great grandfathers fought in WW1 and so on. This day is always a big deal to me because of the rich history of defending our country in my family, every generation except mine has served, but I also have much love for all veterans

I would agree my father fought in the Korean war and I have his purple hearts as a reminder. To all Vets thank you we wouldnt have the great country and all of our freedom had it not been for you. I know we all get upset and frustrated at times with our country but it could be ALOT worse...

I couldn't agree more with you Eddie. They say FREEDOM comes at a high price and it does all the men and women in are armed forces i thank you all for securing the freedom I have. You people are true heros as well as all the men and women who have been in all wars thank you

As a wounded VietNam veteran, I would like to say thank you to all our veterans as well, so often we forget what Veterans Day means and the sacrifices made by a few for the many.

We all do our part in keeping this the greatest country in history.  Those who wear the uniform as I do cannot do it without the support of EVERYONE.  It is I who thank you.

If it weren't for people like you, i would have been stoned to death a long time ago...xoxo  jenn

wouldn't be what it is today without the sacrifices made by our vets time and time again.  Many thanks to you all!

My late grandfather served in both World Wars and my uncle fought in the South Pacific, Korea and Vietnam where he was seriously wounded. And my dad and another uncle fought in Europe.

though not wanting to sound patronising, there has only been one year in the last 103 that a British Armed Forces person has not been killed fighting for QUEEN and COUNTRY. We Brits have been with u every step of the way thro most accounts of world wars and terrorism and do you Americans realise you people have funded most of it?

jldick506388 reads

Youre absolutely right pal, you Brits have been riding our shirt tails for 200 years and we appreciate it, we really do, and as I recall, we have pulled your chesnuts out of the fire in two world wars, thanks for the help.

As to pulling the chestnuts out of the fire in two world wars, in World War 1 all sides had been pounding on each other for three long bloody years before America's entry. There were no chestnuts to be pulled as neither side could finish the other off. As for World War 2, at least in the European theater, it was pointed out in History class that during the Normandy invasion, there was somewhere around 10 German divisions fighting in Normandy and over 100 trying to slow the Russians down.

So what is your point, my point was that the Americans had turned the tide against the Germans in both World Wars and without American intervention, both wars would have been lost to the Germans.

The tank battle of the Kursk Salient in 1943, with the subsequent victory by Soviet Marshal Zhukov, was the key WWII engagement that ensured the defeat of the Third Reich.

My point was to thank ALL veterans.  But to be honest, that thanks was inspired because it was "Veteran's Day" here in the USA, which is why most of the posts refer to American Veterans...  perhaps you didn't realize it was a National Holiday here in the States, hence your reply.

But what exactly was your point about "you people" funding most of it?

Irish Republican Army is USA Funded, the first Gulf war stopped early because of the arms deals getting done by American firms for the Arab States ie Jordan, Syria Kuwait et al the least said about Isreal the better, a certain Mr Donald Rumsfeld (sorry about the spelling) has met and given USA support to Iraq against Iran, and the USA trained Osama bin Laden.
On another point, I didn't realise it was a holiday there and the USA only joined two world wars after they were attacked first

This was suppose to be a tribute to Veterans, so I'm reluctant to pursue this, but please, don't start calling the kettle black.... England has a long history of colonialism and is as complicit if not more so in starting wars, and has a much longer history of doing so than the US...

As to the World Wars.... The US wasn't attacked before coming to the aid of Europe... yes, in the war in the Pacific, we entered the war after Pearl Harbor, but not in the European Theater....

But who started what really isn't the point of the original post... Because regardless of who started things, it's the ordinary citizen-soldier who has put his life on the line to defend the Western (Not American, not Anglo-European, but Western) way of life, and the original post was meant as a tribute to them....

Remind me to contribute again to the IRA.  Thanks to the Russian military for showing us how to fight the Germans.  There bravery was legendary.

Thanks to the British and Montgomery to show us how not to fight and be incompetent bungling fools.  The British story of the war is one of cowardice and incompetence.

thanx to the usa we've suffered more in the hands of the brave yankee doodle dandees than we did against two wars with the iraq people
friendly fire have u guys not trained to see that union flag friendly, iraqi flag bad
and the usa only joined ww1 after the lucitania was attacked
