Lately, I just don't enjoy porn like I used to.  I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of the product; I think I'm just burned out.

Maybe it's because I've fucked over 350 providers during my years in the hobby (351 if you count my ex-wife ) including more than 60 PSEs, but porn flix simply no longer arouse me without a lot of effort and imagination on my part, even when it stars one of my favorite pornstars.

Admittedly porn itself has gotten boring, but my ennui goes beyond the quality (or lack thereof)of the product.

Don't get me wrong; when I'm with a beautiful woman my lust and desire is still as strong as ever... it's just that I've become terribly jaded when it comes to watching people, even people I know, fuck on film.

Yes and I believe the problem is that it is suffering from over exposure. Porn use to be something that was taboo and hidden from public consumption.. Now even if your not trying to find it, you stumble upon it. Also, what mountain is there left to conquer? Anal, gangbangs, S&M, what else is there? Nothing new will shock or titillate me. At this point I only use the porn as an advertisement for XXX stars that are available for private sessions.

I feel the same way,no where near your experience and still pretty young so it kinda concerns me.

This might sound crazy but I think I might take a porn hiatus, see if I can reboot so to speak.

YES!  as is my wife..although she has retired, due to the economy, she has had to go back to it and has even said that the producers are even burnt out on it...I think its basically the state of the world that has everyone "down"...as it wil lnever be the good 'ol days again like the past 10yrs, we'll just have to grin and bare it..

"Kick Ass" was different than most "juvenile" films because it actually contained the lost art of character development. The result was an intelligent, creative, entertaining and fun film.

I tend to agree, porn has saturated our lives and the hobby has raised the bar of thrill to unrivaled levels. However, like almost everything in life, it is cyclical.  If you let it go, the thrill will come back at some point, and someone will invent something new that would make things more exiting. Culturally, we are at the age of decadence, like we were in the (early) 80's when everyone fucked everyone, only in the cycles are now churning faster. Maybe I am getting too philosophical, but that's just my perspective.

Modern US porn is much too tame.  I was watching some Euro-porn from the 70's and 80's and the shit was amusing in its realism.  Meaning, that they had various kinds of character actors of all ages as part of the story who did not take part in any of the sex scenes.  For example, a movie with a housewife with a side job as a hooker would show her having a home life complete with small children and old in-laws.

Agree with most of what has been posted but want to add a couple points:

1.  Admitting my age, 55, and its impact.  My brain still has the habit of watching and enjoying but the body seems to be slow in rising.

2.  How many times can you watch the same thing (BJ's, fucking, ass fucking, etc) without a story to it?  I can compare techniques or be interested in a new body and , occasionally, someone new will come along to incite but mostly porn is INCREDIBLY redundant.  

3.  I've said it before and will say it again, We're seduced from the big head down.  Porn needs to reduce the production quantity and start  producing better movies.

4.  Having said all that, it is a the perspective of a 55 year old.  What do you think is the perspective of the 25-35 year old guys watching porn?  I think the 10-15 minute scenes fit them perfectly and they are the primary audience.

too many "girl next door porn stars". Seemed like back in the 80's heyday, for example, porn actresses had a certain "exotic" flavor, e.g., Ginger Lynn or Hyapatia Lee. Even more recent starlets like Jenna J. have had that "something different" about them.

The unbridled access to porn is something to behold.  When I was a teenager, happening upon a porn mag was EPIC good fortune!  Most kids wouldn't even give a good skin mag a second look.

There are two life cycles to porn...yours as an individual consumer and the evolution of the industry.

Nothing today will ever compare to seeing the explicit spread of a Oui or Club centerfold while still a virgin or watching Ginger Lynn in her prime as a college freshman, but that is a reflection on me, not porn.

Couple of Thoughts - Points

Like anything else the more players in the game, the less top grade entertainment you get. It was great when Pornstar’s actually made it a career like the Amber Lynn’s, Ginger Lynn’s, Christy Canyon’s. Now we have a make a quick buck attitude in Pornstar’s that make films and escort. It even seems like most Pornstar’s don’t even enjoy getting fucked on film these days!

Porn was better when it was fantasy. I met my ATF and was completely let down not from the sex, but from who she was and how she acted. Not true for all. Porn is better as a fantasy, not as so much as a reality. Unless you can form a friendship like FastEddie has with many.  

I think this is a perceptive post. When I think back on my introduction to audio/visual jerking off, I'm reminded of how exciting R-Rated movies were -- whether mainstream Hollywood, or straight-to-video skin romps.
