I was uploading my gmail account into linkedin the the other day and lo and behold a pornstar I've had a email exchange with had a Linkedin page. The page wasn't much of anything, but still I was surprised to find it.

I've been on Linkedin for several years and so have many other Porn Stars and girls in the industry. Plaxo is another site you'll find many of us.

I suppose in retrospect I shouldn't be to surprised in finding adult entertainers on LinkedIn seeing how it is a "business" social networking avenue. But unless I had a very good reason I wouldn't be inviting or accepting any porn network invitations any time soon unless I was logged in as "Alan Smithee".

If you don't want someone in your Lindekin don't invite them or if they send you an invite don't accept it...if its an issue. I don't send out invites...people invite me.

fair enough, you deserve an answer, cuz apparently you took this personally (which was not my intention) ... so here it is (in long-winded form):

pornstars who know you by name, now will get to know your entire professional network (your colleagues, your boss, etc). but it doesn't stop there, their jilted ex-boyfriends, crazy booking agents and whatnot will also get to your entire business network, i can wax even more paranoid, but i'll stop here! LOL

now, i personally don't have this problem (cuz nobody knows my name) but still, perhaps it's not so good for most guys on this board (unless they hide their connections on LinkedIn, which of course most don't for obvious reasons)

so yes, PRIVACY ... something we all seemed to have forgotten was our god-given right in this world at one point in the not-too-distant past. but not so in this day-n-age@ ... heck, just read the Twitter post few threads below this one! LOL

also, don't take this personally, but LinkedIn was once a refuge for business professionals who did not want to (or could not afford to) join MySpace/Facebook/whatever, because it is/was considered highly immature to do so

i know job recruiters and head-hunters in corporate firms who immediately red-flag a candidate if they find he/she has a MySpace or Facebook account. and i know people who've had their livelihood altered by "inappropriate" friends connecting to them on their MySpace accounts and posting silly things, or things they themselves approved of, innocently thinking, "hey it's cool, what the hell"

I find LinkedIn and Facebook difficult to navigate and of little use compared to Myspace.
