this weekend?

I did and it will be my last.  The presenters are now charging fans $5-$10 to have their pictures taken.  Not too long ago, they never asked before.  I won't be going to any future expos.

Just got home and I was not impressed. They had hired performers to act as go go dances in cages and what not, well most of them were sitting around bored.

They had the legends of porn section, which is a great idea. unfortunately, one could not meet them, most were talking to industry people in the back.
Ginger Lynn was gone by 8pm.

Attendance was low and the vendors relevance to porn is questionable.  No video sales, one small booth for sex toys and I still don't know what the others were offering.

Yes, "stars" were charging for taking their photos and charging $20 for their dvds. This was the only place were I saw a DVD for sale at this whole show.  

I hope the rest of the weekend is better for everyone else. This is the only opportunity for "Stars" get meet their fans but that might explain why no one is buying porn anymore.

You are prolly correct on that. I understand industry people will want to talk with other industry people at a convention, but what do non industry people do when they can't meet the "stars" and the vendors suck?

They should then just make Friday night to media only then open to the public Saturday and Sunday.

I've been to several of the conventions in NJ.  This has been fairly standard at Exxxotica since they started.  Glamourcon is also doing it.  

From what I understand, it's partly the girls, partly the convention, and partly agents/managers responsible.  Basically, with the costs for them to attend or run one of these things continually going up each year, they have to offset those costs.  They can either raise the entry fee to some really high amount, which will mean that people won't attend, or they can charge for pictures/photos.  For every $5 photo - roughly $1.01 is cost of film, $1.33 goes to actress, $1.33 goes to convention, $1.33 goes to agent/manager or some such split.  Essentially everyone is getting a piece of it.  

This helps keep the cost of the shows down for everyone, and then you only have to pay for whatever actress you want photos with.  Remember, no one REQUIRES you to take a photo with them.

Now, in NJ, I don't know about elsewhere, you can take a photo of any of them with or without their permission for no fee.  That's because under NJ law they are in a public place and have no reasonable expectation of privacy.  But, if you want a picture WITH them, or ask them to pose for you, then you must pay.

By the way, this is no different from other conventions.  I've gone to a several of the SuperMegaShows in NJ and met the likes of Adam West, Julie Newmar, Mercedes McNab, Melody Anderson, William Katt, Joyce DeWitt, Dawn Wells, and more... and you have to pay for pictures with them too.  In fact, I'm going to one later today to meet Lindsay Wagner, Yancy Butler, Marina Sirtis and Daphne Duplaix.  I'm stopping at the bank on the way because I expect to pay up to $20 for photos of each.  That's the way things are these days at all these conventions and the porn-related ones are no different.

I've learned that going on Friday night is a bad idea.  That's when all the media show up, and where everyone is first arriving and saying hello to people they haven't seen in a while, making deals for new movies, etc.  The best time to go is on Saturday.  Exxotica started a new thing this year where Saturday morning is reserved for industry folks.  That's actually a good thing - many of the stars didn't show up until 1pm last year anyway.

Unfortunately, she cancelled.  Sigh.  I did however get a chance to talk to and have my arms around Daphne Duplaix.    So, while I'm disappointed that Yancy didn't show up, I'm not unhappy.

I made that same suggestion to them.  They chose not to.  The reason, i'm told, is that they felt that some people who work during the day could make Friday night but not Saturday night and they wanted to try and find a balance between catering to the industry and catering to the fans.

I like the CES model - the show is open to industry-only folks for several days, and then open to everyone for the weekend.  But, since Exxxotica is only Friday-Sunday, and many of the stars start leaving on Sunday, they sort of have to make do with a few hours each day being industry-only.

I've gone to each of the NJ ones and I've managed to see all the stars.  You have to be patient, and be willing to wait online.  Sometimes, you have to be willing to wait until the talent shows up.  The way they operated last year, on Saturday, the talent was doing 4-hour shifts where they'd be there for 4 hours, then off for 4 hours, then on again, etc.  The hard part was that there was no schedule posted so you had to figure out who was going to be at which booth at what time... or just kill the day waiting to see who showed up.

I didn't mind too much - I hung out with a few of the stars I knew personally.  There was plenty of eye candy to watch, too.  I even spent time talking to the dancers they hired trying to find ones that provided on the side.

I am a big fan of Julia Ann. Is Julia Ann coming to EXXXotica later this fall in New Jersey? If the convention is still on, can someone ask her.
