Let's not forget Benghazi.

Here's why:
1) Nearly 3,000 people died on 9/11. All of them innocent civilians and first responders. Four Americans died at Benghazi but at least some of them had a fighting chance. How do you compare 3,000 deaths to 4? Badly.
2) Neither event should have been allowed to happen. Before 9/11 there were warnings that were ignored by the Bush Administration. Before Benghazi there were also warnings. But, in fact, Ambassador Stevens had been warned to leave and did not. Brave but foolish. The 3,000 Americans who died on 9/11 received no such warning.
3) The 9/11 attacks brought America together and were never used by anyone to gain partisan political advantage. I was among those who cheered Bush when he stood in the rubble of the World Trade Center and said, "The people who knocked down these buildings will be hearing from all of us." But the Benghazi attacks were weaponized by Republicans to partisan advantage. McCarthy was even stupid enough to admit it on Hannity:
"Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee. A select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. "
All this makes me wonder whether Shempy/Mini McCarthy is really in mourning or just doing what Republicans do: posturing for political advantage. That would explain why he's come up with such a bogus comparison.

Should remind us of where our greatest threat to this country is coming from.

who are not patriotic like to denigrate those that are.  It's a form of self-loathing.  They know they will never be able to be a true patriot, so they look down on those that are.  I have known Democrats who were real patriots, so it's possible Nicky could become one if he changes the way he thinks about loss of military lives rather than just civilians.  He would be like Joe looking as his watch as they unloaded the coffins.

For example, which loss of "military lives" did I not value? In fact, I actually said Benghazi was tragic. And the last I read, the US Ambassador there was not in the military, neither was his aide. The other two deaths were of CIA contractors, former Navy SEALs. But no longer in the military. So tragic, yes, though not military.  But what I objected to -- which you are clearly too hyper-partisan to acknowledge -- is that comparing the deaths of 4 people whose deaths were politicized to 3,000 whose deaths were not, is obscene.
But I guess you're too dense to get the difference and must retreat into your partisan echo chamber.

too disorganized to have been planned by Trump.    One thing we know is that Trump knows how to put on an event that is successful.  This one was not, further proof that Trump had no hand in planning, if there was planning at all, which I doubt.  The video makes everything look spontaneous, with people running everywhere, and any small groups of people using it as cover for something sinister are being brought to justice.  Trump had no part of it.  He told them to march peacefully to the Capitol and make their voices heard.  Marching and yelling is not against the law.

And it almost was successful. It interrupted the electoral count for hours, which was all part of the plan. It only failed because Pence wouldn't play ball.
The fact that a lot of people who came to the rally didn't storm the Capitol doesn't prove a thing.
Funniest of all is "Trump had no part of it." All he did was tout the rally and tell folks "It will be wild." Then tell them "You've got to fight," after insisting they let in people known to be armed.

…it’s full TDS time when remembering the victims of 9/11? I commute through the Pentagon every day I go into the office. On 9/11 I was talking to a woman there. We were told that the interstate was shut down, and the last train was coming. She was hoping her husband would be on that train. He wasn’t. I never found out if he died. At the time I was renting a room out of a pretty nice house. My landlady was divorced and had trouble paying the bills on her own. People who lived on our street died in the Pentagon. One was my landlady’s friend, and she had just given birth to her third child. Her husband didn’t come home on 9/11. Her life was changed forever on that day. DC workers carpool. We wait in “slug” lines and pick up rides and riders. Over time you get to know the regulars in your commuter lot. There were people that I talked to on a weekly basis that disappeared that day. I know of two of them who died. So I’m asking you politely, give it a rest.

I'm not the one who injected Benghazi as a political diversion. I'm the one who said the victims of 9/11 should be honored and we shouldn't confuse that by throwing up another event that was in no way comparable.
